Excellent Street photography for minimalist shooting
This is actually a great prime lens for the money you get (excellent deal) for it. 28 mm is part of the wide angle look close to the 16mm - 24mm ultrawides so it's fair balance without the wide angle distortions. And with the dimensions allows for cropping without losing quality (especially if you're shooting with a full frame camera versus cropped APS-C; where as the crop has a 1.6x that turns this 28mm into 44.8mm focal length; I haven't tried this on a cropped sensor so disregard if you have a cropped / APS-C sensor). Not bad for low light shooting. albeit at f2.8.The build quality is pretty much plastic but it's light. the 7-blade aperture is not really too bad and gives a nice buttery bokeh that's pretty on par with the EF L version of the 24mm. It's nice to see Canon aiming this at the prosumer - enthusiast market with this decent cost of $250 for an amazing, color-saturated Canon color science that we're all used to. The corners get a bit soft but not as bad as the RF 16mm and 24mm, so this 28mm wins out on the corner tests versus the other RF lens in the same camp. Now for the cons. No IS, so either use a tripod or bring up the ISO and shutter speed.Other than my quibble about no built in IS (how can you with a pancake architecture?) but overall the photo quality, ease of use, and extreme portability when paired with Canon's RP or R8 mirrorless wins out and makes the no IS a minor flaw that can be easily forgiven given its versatility in the field. Highly recommended.

Great lens
Best lens on any mirrorless mount. Nice rendering and bokeh. Sharp enough. Super small.I'm not shooting Canon anymore. I wish there was a lens like this for Sony E mount.

Light weight, fast focus & min distortion
Love this new lens. Total banger for only $350. Great for family session but love it for weddings at end of the day. perfect lens for dance floor shots & to whip around and bust out a group portrait when someone taps u on the shoulder w/ a group of 6-8 on dance floor. Fast focus in low light. Saves my wrist. Highly recommend.

Well worth it.
Great quality for the money. You know going into it that it"s a f2.8 so despite it being slow, that shouldn't be a shock. The fov is great as a walk around prime, the focus is fairly quick and very precise and consistent, and the image quality hits far above its price point. The small size makes it possible to throw it over your shoulder and not have it get in the way, or cause fatigue, even when also dealing with a toddler/infant and strollers/duaper bags. The size is a great attribute. This lens offers a lot more than the price would indicate. A very high value and recommended.

Almost perfect travel setup for EOS R8
Pros;Size - this lens is tiny! Barely adds size or weight to my R8.IQ - Photos come out sharp, colors clean and great.Sound - silent focusing, even from MFD to infinity.Cons;Sensitive - When camera is on, any pressure on front mount will cause AF motor to freak out and pulsate. Doesn’t feel right. My RF 16MM doesn’t do this.Tiny front element - makes it hard to clean.

My everyday lens is this one
Don't even feel like it's there. Pretty good for wide angles, portraits or any day to day picture taking. Amazing quality. Great aperture size.

Great little lens!
I am a professional event photographer. I have to make images in low light at times and this little guy performs extremely well. Considering it does not have stabilization, I rarely have shake or blurred images. (I shoot fast speeds at higher ISO) It's small, lightweight and works perfectly. Very little vignetting or distortion. So little it's hard to tell sometimes depending on how close you re to the subject. Thanks Canon for a great little inexpensive lens.
