Works as intended

Good product and works properly. Cant wait to use this.

I got these snapshackles in anticipation of needing to take down my 17' shade sail in a hurry (we recently had a turnbuckle break from 75 mile per hour winds). The shackles seem plenty strong, but they have real trouble releasing under load.In a real life scenario, especially with a shade sail flapping in a strong wind, the load will fluctuate in magnitude and direction (like a sine wave), so it will probably pull out ok when the load passes zero. But, if you're planning on using them for something with a constant load, you might look to an unpainted version. My guess is that the black coating is causing most of the friction.For anything other than release under full load, they seem to work just fine.

Nice looking light duty shackles. They are far too attracted to a magnet to be 316 so 2 stars off for misstating the material. More likely 304 stainless steel which, with the paint should minimize any staining that comes from 304 hardware.

I selected these shackles to assist me with my everyday chores on my property. With frequent occasion, I find myself needing to rig rope around tree limbs, hoist things up a ladder, secure things to my tractor toolbox, tie things up, etc.With these shackles, I simply placed them at each end of a rope, clamped the rope ends back onto the rope, and I was ready to go. I can quickly form a slip knot, on each end if need be. I have already put these shackles to good use - I fastened each shackle to two separate heavy tools that I did not want to carry up the ladder. I climbed the ladder, merely holding onto the slack on the rope. I then hoisted up the first tool. I finished with that tool, lowered it down, and hoisted up the other tool. Finished with that tool, lowered it down, then climbed down the ladder with both of my hands available to grab the ladder - not carrying tools. This system also allowed me to climb the ladder only once - a win-win.I will say these shackles feel very well made. They have a nice heft and durable feel to them. For what I have done so far, they have performed great.These shackles are the types of tools that when you see them, you can think of a multitude of uses for them. Get creative and come up with your own uses. You will not regret buying these. Thank you for reading my review.

These are built sturdy and are nicely powder-coated.They open smoothly when the pin is pulled on, and would work well for tasks such as suspending a bicycle or tools in your garage. The 880 lbs. working load and stainless steel construction put these a step up on typical hardware store clips.Recommended.
