We have 2 firetrucks to keep our large rural property safe from wildfire. One thing with a fire truck is that you need to keep it plugged in to power in order to keep the batteries topped off so it always starts. This battery charger is made for boats, though it works great for the firetruck.

My use case was not the normal one for this product, however it worked perfectly for me. I have a few strange vehicles / projects that have multiple 12V batteries and was always moving a single charger around. With this one I cut off the factory ring terminal leads and attached some connectors so I could quickly remove and install it.Besides that small point, it has worked really well in keeping two batteries charged at once for me. It has worked reliable and charges quickly. It doesn't get super hot or anything and the progress indicator is handy for checking on the status with a quick glance.I am sure it works great for its intended purpose as well, but if you are looking to charge two batteries in general and not just for a boat with a little modification this can work really well for you too!

It's a battery charger !!! A water Resistant one, but still a battery charger. I put this on the wall outside my shop building under a some weather flashing for things I want to pull up and charge over night. Just had to put some extended cable battery clamps on it. It is a great battery maintenance charger too. In fact, you can use this inside your garage for batteries you may take out of equipment that would sit idle during the winter and keep on a maintenance cycle to have fresh and new like when needed after keeping out of the winter non-use drain which is really hard on batteries.

I got this for my pontoon boat to keep the battery charged over the winter months when I am not using it. I was excited to get something specifically for marine applications that had some water resistance. The charger is meant to be permanently installed as evidenced by the lugs vice clamps meant to be screwed on the battery terminals. Plus there are four holed tabs for using screws or bolts for install. The wires from the charger to the battery or six feet or so, allowing for enough placement options. However, the cord that plugs into wall power is standard length. Okay if you already have shore power to your boat but my application requires and extension cord, which is not forbidden but not recommended in the instructions. The controls are easy to use and the charger adapts to different battery types (which you set). But the part that really impacted my plans was the warning line in the manual which said not to install in enclosed spaces or where there is no ventilation. On a pontoon EVERYTHING is under seats or in enclosed cabinets. I did not want to leave this charger exposed in the passenger area so I’ll just have to use it as a portable charger that I hook up in the winter and leave on the deck exposed (but under my overall boat tarp), but store in the garage in the summer. I wish it came with the option for clamps for this purpose, not just lugs that require unscrewing battery connections. But if you have a cuddy cabin (with one battery though) this might not be an issue for you.

The single bank charger/maintainer SC1470 by Schumacher is made in PRC (china). This charger comes with ring terminals and mounting holes for permanent installation. I use the SC1470 on the boat in the summer, but the travel trailer in the winter due the peak 15 amp charging current. I have only used the SC1470 on deep cycle batteries, and it does a great job of getting as close to "set it and forget it" as you can (I never truly forget it, as I have to add water to the batteries every couple of months). The Schumacher brand has become a bit pricey, though you get what you pay for in quality. The maintenance mode does what it is supposed to. I recommend the SC1470.5 stars

Excellent quality charger. I have yet to have any issues with anything made by Schumacher. This one works as advertised, and is very well made.

Great vessel battery charger. I have this charger keeping 2 batteries charged at all times. Never had an issue with them. They make my trips & my life MUCH easier. I highly recommend them. Super dependable is what you require on the water. They are a MUST HAVE on any vessel.

This is a great and elegant charger/maintainer. I appreciate that it is designed to be permanently installed and offers a good amount of water resistance.
