Vandal Hearts

Vandal Hearts is a truly excellent strategy RPG from way back. I had originally owned this one years ago yet lost it during one of my many moves since then. So I decided to buy it again. Huzzah!Anyhow, when compared to the complexities of the SRPGs of today like Disgea this one is pretty basic however it's still extremely fun to play and honestly that's the best reason there is to own it yourself. You follow a group of characters through different missions and defeat the forces of evil. Sounds generic enough, but they threw in enough interesting aspects to keep it fresh:1) As characters level up, (most) will have the option to class change from one of two choices. For example, your mage type character has the option of becoming a stronger type of mage or a healer instead. This is really fun and helps the replay value as well for any subsequent playthroughs.2) On the battlefields, pay close attention to any spot on the ground that looks weird or out of place (ex. a seashell in the middle of a dirt patch). Very often there's hidden items in spots like these.3) Some of the mission objectives are varied. There's one mission where you have to help a village of people who're all turning into zombies and another where you have to try to win it within a certain # of turns before the attack dogs get you.4) Extra, "hidden" missions abound that are pretty challenging if you can locate them.5) GIANT SPOUTS OF BLOOD FOR NO APPARENT REASON ASIDE FROM IT'S AWESOME.The graphics admittedly aren't much to write home about and in fact weren't even all that great when this game was new. But hey, do you play Ms. Pac Man for how awesome it looks or for how much fun it is? Give this one a shot, by all means. There is a sequel that I also bought way back when however they changed a lot of the formula and to me it just didn't work so I can't recommend that one as a follow-up.

The Good : product delivered quickly and undamaged, product works well and was in like new condition. The bad : product was shown with it's case from manufacturer and I presumed the manual with game disk. What I got was just the disk in an after market case. Games works fine, although it was hard to remember all the controls ( played this game 20 plus years ago ) without the manual. Great and fun game but disappointed I didn't get and case with the artwork and the manual. May have bought it anyways but feel I was mislead and did not receive was I thought I had ordered. Will think twice before ordering from Family Pawn Jewelry & Loan again.

Vandal Hearts is a good game. Graphics is ok for it's time, though the character images are really sad. It's hard to take seriously a bunch of characters that look like rats or constipated monkeys. I recommend this game for the story-line, which is actually pretty decent. But it's a really easy game and can be beat relatively quickly.

This was the first strategy/tactics RPG I ever played. I've returned to replay this game many times. It is one of the most impressive but overlooked Play Station games. The game play, strategy, story, and music are all top notch especially for the time period this was released. My original copy broke and I re-bought on amazon because this is one of my favorite games of all time. I would strongly recommend this game to any RPG fan or all-around gamer.

I have recently dedicated myself to going back and playing some of the original ps 1 games that "passed me by" back when. Ps 1 is such a solid system and upon its arrival, offered what I feel is the best gameplay ever. When I happened across Vandal Hearts, I knew right away that this one is on my top 3 for ones I missed out on. It's great to be able to obtain it and in original condition. Thank you.

Even though it was used, CD case came with instruction manual (in decent condition). Played perfectly in my PS3 / Best video game vendor in my opinion if you are looking for those classic PS games no longer offered on PS Store.

Amazing game. A must have for tactically rpg lovers

old school turn-based strategy game... great story, lots of fun.classic game, mostly for elitists now.more people should play old games like this, not only to allow them to see that good games dont have to be all about the graphics and that story should play a larger part in modern games whether they are for console/pc or some other device.
