If you hate mosquitoes and they love you...
this is a great product. We now have Asian Tiger mosquitoes which bite all day and are relentless. They seem to think insect repellent is delicious. I hardly go out in my yard without this device. Several of my neighbors have inquired about it and have also bought one. Swing and zap, mosquito is dead. My husband also used it on a wasp that was drinking from our hummingbird feeder and scaring away the hummingbirds. Killed it immediately.

Only works when flashlight is on...
I bought this because Amazon was no longer offering the "Zap It!" racquet. I loved the "Zap It!" racquet (still do!) so much so I decided to buy this one to have another on hand, and this seemed to have everything the other one did; plus good reviews. But let me tell you, it does not compare!...CONS:-First off, it DOES WORK, and it DOES KILL BUGS. So far so good, right? Well, the catch is (no pun intended) if you want to catch and kill bugs, you have to have the flashlight on when you switch on the safety, power button. You heard me right: the power button turns on both the zapper and the flashlight at the same time. But what if you don't want or need the flashlight on while catching and killing bugs? You know, to save battery power as common sense would tell you. Just switch off the flashlight, right? WRONG. Guess what the flashlight button does... NOTHING. The flashlight stays on when the power is on, and the so-called flashlight switch is just a slidding switch that does nothing else (like a fidget toy, I guess). Seems to me it was wired wrong inside. The flashlight should be a pro, but on this racquet it is mostly an annoying, battery draining con.-Second of all, there's NO INDICATION LIGHT FOR ZAPPING! Are you kidding me?! Well, I take that back, there sort of is: it's that annoying flashlight! GRRRR! However, it does have a red to green indicator light for charging BUT THAT'S IT.-Now, on to the last thing which is just a few minor things related to look and feel: It's lightweight, which I like, but that's probably only because the material seems a little bit like cheap plastic (though maybe better than the "Black Flag" racquet from Walmart). The handle has it's own matte sort of feel on the handle which I don't like; meanwhile, the "Zap It!" feels nice, slick and sturdy. The mesh looks incomplete while the the"Zap It!" looks like a nice finish. Also, the black zap button is cheap, finicky, same color black as the body and sticks a little; meanwhile, the "Zap It!" has a standout yellow button on black body thats a nice quality that clicks and doesn't stick at all. This racquet is just a bad copycat of the "Zap It!."PROS:-Lightweight-Will zap and kill bugs-USB chargingVERDICT:Only 2 stars for so many unecessary cons. Look elsewhere for a bug zapper racquet. I highly recommend the "Elucto" and "Zap It!" (if you can find it) bug zapper racquets. As far as Tregini (terrible name for a bug zapper, IMO), it was cheaply put together by a drunk person. Or at least mine was.BONUS!:"Zap It!" pros and cons!...CONS:NONE! Unless you prefer switching batteris instead of USB charging. In that case, buy one of each (like the "Elucto" which takes 2 AA's) and have 2 different kinds on hand.PROS:-Sturdy construction-Absolutely catches and kills bugs-USB charging-Light indicator that shows both charging (red to green light) and when zapping button is depressed (red light)-Buttons that do what they say they do-Independent flashlight that can be switched on or off-Independent on and off power button, safety switch-Yellow zapper button that stands out-Feels nice in the hand-If you want to save more battery power, you can use the red indicator light that shines bright enough to be another flashlight! COOL!Update:I found out that by pressing down on the light switch when in off position, the flashlight will go off; but it must be held down. Solution: Just wrap some tape around the button and handle to keep it pressed down. Now it works just as good as any other non-flashlight zappper racquet, minus the indicator light. Because I found this solution, I am updating from 2 stars to 3 stars instead. I still recommend finding a different racquet to avoid the problems I had, but I can get by with it now...

Zaps them dead!
So I do like this racket, however, too many buttons. I just want to hit the zap button. There's a on/off switch, a light switch and the zap switch. However, for the price I won't complain. Because of all the buttons, I doubt I would buy again.

electric button stopped working
catches flies easily. however the electric button stopped pressing due to bad/flimsy button design. now using without electric shock, flies are giving a hard ttime.

Very effective, but loud
I was not prepared to the loud cracking sound that happens when you zap a bug. I keep houseplants and the fungus gnats were driving me crazy, so I bought this to zap them. But it's surprisingly loud! After a while it becomes very satisfying to swipe at a bug and get that crack! But I at first the sound startled me.

The zapper died after 5 weeks!
When I first got the zapper it worked so well. I loved the sound it made.I live in an apartment and with the nice weather several of my friends like to sit out front on the patio. The bees, stink bugs and no seeums have been so annoying. The zapper helped and entertained everyone. Then it just stopped working. I charged it twice and nothing!I threw it out today, very disappointed.I just purchased a new one, not the same kind, I hope I have better luck with the new one!

Would not recommend, returning for refund
Received it on time, it had no charge in it so we plugged it in and waited for the red charge light to go green. Once green, we unplugged it, closed the charge port cover and turned it on...Firstly, even when switch is turned on and the « flashlight » switch is turned on as well the flashlight does not work. It is so faint that you can’t even see any light. So we turned the flashlight off again.Secondly, we clicked and held the zapp button to essentially zapp away the bugs and nothing. The bugs are probably laughing at us. We clicked and held it because even if you click and release, nothing happens. We though we didn’t charge it enough so we plugged it back to charge but the charge light was green, not red.Overall, this product does not work. We are 100% dissatisfied and will be requesting a refund.UPDATE: Husband took it apart and fixed the broken wiring issue inside the device. Now it zaps but the light still does not come on.

Interesting concept. Feels funny when you zap the tip of your tongue.
The first layer is a protector which can work great or against you. The second layer is the thin electric wires. This is the wire that actually produces the electricity. In the cases where the bug is larger than the diamond openings of the first protective layer, the electric shock won't work. Would recommend to anyone dealing with small to medium sized flies

Worthy of a Jedi knight
It looks like a toy, and it actually is a lot of fun. On the other hand, it is a serious device, not to be used carelessly. It is quite deadly to all flying insects when you connect. Some of them are not easy to hit in mid-flight, but even wasps will go down. So you wave your racket back and forth making light saber noises, the ladies think you're acting silly, and you have a ball getting rid of those pesky whatevers

Died after 2.5 months, but replaced without hassle. Great unit.
Updated review. Our initial zapper died after 2.5 months, so we were pretty disappointed. But we reached out to Tregini Customer Support and they honoured the warranty with no questions asked; now have a replacement unit. It's very satisfying to be eliminating fruit flies again. With larger house flies, the zapper does tend to stun rather than kill the flies the first time, but you can zap a second time to solve that problem. With fruit flies, it's even quicker.

Efficace
