Sony Walkman AVLS WM-EX122 Portable Cassette Player

My son was looking for a cassette player he could use while working. Sony Walkman is the best, and is not easy to find any more, so I was happy to find this one on Amazon. It arrived in good time, it works very well, and he is pleased. (I had it sent directly to him.) I always turn to Amazon first when I'm looking for hard-to-find items.

I'm an 'outlier' who still values audio tapes. I owned one of these players (very happily) for some 15 years, until it died on me. Finding another, still in original packaging, so many years later seemed too good to be true - as it has indeed turned out. For some reason, this machine picks up the 'mechanical' sound of the tape running in the cassette, and amplifies it along with the audio signal - meaning that there's unwanted 'mechanical' audio interfering at all times with the audio that I am trying to listen to. I don't think I can blame this on the seller - seems this is likely the outcome of buying an outdated item still 'on offer' long after its "sell by" date........................

I was more then a little wary of buying a slightly used piece of electronics. First impressions were not good. The Walkman was supposed to come in it's original packing. It came in what was left of the original packing. The batteries were already in it, unusual. Although pictured with headphones none accompanied the unit. I took out one of my tapes, got a pair of headphones, put the tape in and pushed play. Nothing happened. I took the batteries out and checked them. While not fresh they did test in the green. I put the batteries back in, tried again and the unit worked fine.The sound quality is very good. The unit works as it should. The lack of headphones did not bother me. The ones that came with tape players in general were usually poor quality. I only used those if there was a chance of rain. I have accumulated several very good pairs over the years. I would have put them in a drawer or thrown them out anyway.I am happy to be able to take my music with me again. I love the looks I get when I am out for a walk with the Walkman on my belt.

I grew up using walkmans so I know how they work. I installed the batteries and then the cassette tape and hit the play button. Nothing. I installed another set of batteries and tried a different cassette tape. Nothing. The buyer will not refund this defective product.

Although it did not come with a belt holder I didn't care as I listened to my old cassette tapes at night before bed. Works like a charm.

I dropped it once and it broke..that was my favorite walkman but w it you sent some buds instead of headphones and that was not part of the description on the ad. I got jipped
