Ignition Chip Compatible with Stihl 030 031 031av 032 Replaces Points & Condenser

Note that this can be hooked up two ways. If you don't want to adjust the timing on your 031 (who does) reverse the polarity so ground is positive. You can verify the timing with a timing light, but with ground as negative, the timing is retarded about 30 degrees. With the polarity reversed, timing is spot on.Edit: I found that hooking it up so the timing appeared correct did not work. Using a timing light, I could see that the ignition was firing at two spots (one at 2.2mm before TDC and one a bit after TDC). As you can imagine, this caused terribly rough running. After reversing the wires and advancing the flywheel about 30 degrees, it runs perfectly.

Loved the fact that I no longer have to rely on the points and coil system that used to be operating my saw. This item was easy to install, but it took a while to get it mounted in the air box and two wires run to it. It required three holes to be drilled in the air box, one to mount the chip and two for the wires. After getting it installed and fueled the saw fired up and ran just like it did when it was new.Great job, LiL Red Barn!I will be buying from you in the future when I need quality items.Thanks again,David

The media could not be loaded. My old Stihl 031 AV was destined to be parted out then I found this. I had a bad condensor, had spark but too weak to fire under compression. Threw away points and condensor and hooked up this little jewel and runs like new. Easy to mount the device inside side cover. Only a bit of confusion because directions offer two options, positive or negative ground. I chose negative. Another 35 years life I hope.

Once it is installed and you have adjusted your timing it works great but it will not work with your stock flywheel position.

Installed on two 031’s. No change was made to timing or flywheel and they both run great. I made a little L bracket held under one of coil bolts to attach the chip. Pretty easy and I had no idea what I was doing going into it. Good buy.

Shihl chain Change out old points and install this so much easier and easy to install. Will need flywheel removal tool to install excellent

Worked great it was tuff getting the small wires tied together but we got it done and everything back together and the saw worked like a charm. Didn’t need to adjust the timing it ran great. This was put on a stihl 032av
