Description Furosemide Tablets are prescribed in the treatment of swelling associated with heart failure, especially when the swelling is caused by water retention. It's a proven diuretic—a medication that helps remove excess fluid from the body—and saluretic—a medication excess sodium from the kidneys. By relieving the body of excess fluid and sodium, it helps to relieve inflammation and its unpleasant symptoms. Customers may receive this drug under the names Lasix, Frusomide, Salix. Uses Furosemide is a diuretic used to remove excess fluid from the body. It's indicated in the treatment of congestive heart failure, some other heart diseases, pulmonary edema, certain kidney diseases, high blood pressure, high potassium level in the blood, ascites (fluid in the abdomen), and certain kinds of tissue edema (swelling). Possible Side Effects Dehydration with excessive thirst and increased or decreased urine production have been reported. Electrolyte imbalances (e.g., low sodium, potassium, or calcium), often with rapid heart rate, weakness, depression, vomiting, and restlessness are also possible. If you see any of these signs, contact your veterinarian immediately. Rarely, pets may see an increase in blood glucose level, anemia, pale gums, tiredness, or weakness. A decrease in white blood cells, (making your pet more susceptible to infections) and stomach or intestinal disorders (with vomiting or diarrhea) are also possible, but rare. Precautions Do not use in animals with known allergies to Furosemide or sulfa drugs. Furosemide will cause your pet to urinate more often. Your pet may have more accidents and need to go outside more. Use with caution in pets with kidney disease and diabetes. Do not use in animals with anuria (inability to produce urine), progressive kidney disease, electrolyte imbalances, water loss (dehydration), liver disease, diabetes mellitus, vomiting, or diarrhea.
