My favorite fighting game of all time
This is still something I play with guests, and despite outdated graphics, it is still the best fighting game with weapons I have ever played. Different stances, a variety of weapons, and characters with a broad but balanced spectrum of speed, strength, and special abilities make both storyline gameplay (which is required to unlock all of the characters for two-player mode) and two-player mode fun, fast, and easy to learn. There are a few complicated maneuvers, but no secret button combos to memorize, and first-time players are on nearly even footing with long-time players in two-player duels. Even more varied than the weapons, stances, and characters are the beautiful battlefields you can play on, some of which are interactive, with everything from deadly cliffs to fall off of to bamboo forests that can be cut down with the swing of a sword. The absolute best thing I can say about this game is that it is realistic. If you like fighting games and want to try something with a variety of swords and spears instead of fighting with your bare hands, I cannot think of a better game.A warning: story mode can be insanely frustrating to beat, as the final boss for each clan has a different power that gives him an enormous advantage. Without beating these bosses, you cannot unlock the additional characters for a fun and more enriching two-player fighting game. One clan's boss is armored, and with sufficient practice (yay for infinite retries when you die) you will find the places unprotected by armor. The other boss teleports behind you when struck, and I only found it possible to beat him by using a spear and getting really good at spinning attacks. Since you pick your weapon and character at the beginning of the story, you may find yourself very frustrated with that boss if you make it all the way through the story and find yourself facing him wielding a sword and cannot kill him. Don't fret; just start over and pick the spear. Also, everyone in this game is a ninja. Who doesn't love ninjas?I think I'm gonna go play this game right now. Reviewing it reminds me how much fun it is to play.

Loved the sword fighting
Loved the sword fighting. Matches feel secluded, no music, just you and your opponent and your weapons. The voice acting, and story aren't the game's strong suit by a mile. If your oppenent stabs you with a well placed shot, you are dead, just like in real life, so you have to parry and attack with timing, or else you will be dead. No health bars, mana bars, energy bars, power ups.. I loved the matches with the gunslingers. It's you with a sword vs a gun toting person, straight up anime lol. There are also ring outs, if you fall from a great height you will die, not all of the places you fight have them, but the ones that do, you can knock your opponent off them. The first Bushido Blade is pretty fun as well. I think I might prefer that to this one, only for the fact it had a better story, better first person view, more modes, it had the sledge hammer, and you could run off screen and your battle area would change. Unfortunately my PS2 slim made perfect circle scratches on my Bushido Blade 2 disk on the second day I had it :( It used to play great, but I kept playing nonstop and I noticed the game didn't save after doing story mode, and when I restarted the game It would show the playstation 1 logo and the squaresoft logo, but the regular intro did not play and my Ps2 started making scratching sounds, so there goes the game, and the ps2 since I don't want to scratch any more disks.

one of my favorite games of all time
so this game is the sequel to bushido blade 1, the main differences are: less weapons, more characters and stances, the levels are smaller (in the original bushido blade the level all connected to each other so you could have these huge long battles over the course of a couple levels it was neat) but the most important difference is the removal of the BLOCK BUTTON. in bushido blade 2 instead of blocking you swing your sword, its easier than it sounds, if you get good enough you can easily block thrown weapons and even GUNSHOTS where as in bushido blade 1 the fights devolve into the gross block animation over and over and then your legs get hurt and both of you are helplessly laying on the ground swinging your swords and its no fun, this game is ultra fun taking the time to learn the controls is really rewarding and if you can get someone else to fight you that also knows how to play the game you can have some really excellent crazy moments that really get your blood pumping

THIS GAME IS AWESOME!
Where to start with Bushido Blade 2 , this game is responsible for me being a little chubby in my childhood years. I played it non-stop, to me slicing down ninja after ninja can never get old. It holds alot of playing time because you can unlock new characters by beating them in "boss fights" and then theirs a hidden mini game at the end once you unlock everything:] I LOVE THIS GAME!

Good buy
Came in good shape. Did not include the cover or original case but that's to be expected. This is a great game. Classic Playstation action. I owned and played this as a kid and I am happy to own and play it once again.

fun with friends
This game is not like Soul Calibur or Samurai Shodown where you do combos and slash opponents multiple times. It is just a one slash and you're dead kinda game. The realism in this game might not be for everybody and it will not appeal to button mashers or people who want to do combo chains.I enjoyed the Kendo mode and vastly improved graphics compared to the first one. Like all fighting games, it is boring if you plan to play for the story as it is meant to be a versus game. This is probably the only sword fighting game to emulate the "one slash, one kill" kinda thing. Also there is a certain hidden character which probably has the most op weapon as it is a ranged weapon.

Exactly as advertised!
The packaging was in great shape, the disc itself is immaculate and Bushido Blade 2 happens to be one of the greatest fighting games of all time.
