Healthy dog food, love this company
I've watched the video on their website and read about their values. I totally trust this dog food. I was feeding my dog BARF for a while, but then I started working more hours and it became more difficult to find the time to grind bone and portion every thing out. It was also cumbersome when traveling with the dog and transporting bags of raw chicken everywhere. I love this freeze-dried raw coated kibble. It's high quality and my dog's fur is just as shiny and soft with no dandruff as it was on full raw. I still treat her to the occasional sardine, soup bone, or farm egg, but I'm glad her digestive system adapted great to this food.

Picky dog can't tell the difference between this and a treat
I bought this small bag as a stopgap measure while in between deliveries of his normal big bag. But when I got it, I decided to see if I could use it as a treat instead of his regular food. You see, this dog is incredibly finicky and picky. We have once sprinkled parmesan on his food (I know, I know) and he licked all the parm off. We have once mixed in his usual kibble with a new kibble 50/50 and he turned over the bowl and proceeded to eat all the kibble that he liked while leaving the new stuff on the floor.I had even, upon reading that dogs really react based on context rather than the food, tried to use his old kibble as a treat. No interest. But THIS generated incredible interest, almost consistent with his usual beef lung treats. So I've kept this bag as a source of extremely cheap and plentiful treats to be used on walks to reward his good behavior.

Pure Ancestral excellence!
Was using Purina One True Instinct - Grain Free for my boy, Bruce, but realized the ingredients were meh and it contained synthetic vitamin K which is linked to liver toxicity long term. Amazon gladly refunded the money and allowed me to select another brand. I decided to give Canidae a try based on the beautiful packaging and impressive ingredient list. Pure Ancestral Fish Formula Grain Free is a huge hit with Bruce. The kibble smells Fresh and the size itself seems perfect for all types of breed sizes. Stools are smaller and formed. I am an ex raw feeder so transitioning back to kibble made me uneasy. However, I am at ease knowing I am feeding a top notch kibble with no harmful ingredients. I love that in the Pure Ancestral line they also do NOT add any additional salt. They rely on the natural salts of the protein. The price is a bit higher but like they always say, “You get what you pay for.” We are going to use the Fish formula as the staple but may be trying the other two flavor blends in rotation. Excellent overall. 10 outta 10 tail wags from Bruce!

My super picky Dogs love it
Pros: ingredients, quality smell dogs love. Dog coat is noticeably shiner. Love the size of kibble.Cons: cost to most people (personally I think it’s well worth) 20lb last a long time and bag is not Resealable. So you need to put in glass jar. Or use a heat sealer. It will go stale if left open. I had about 2 cup left in bottom and the bag wasn’t fully sealed. After a week the fish smell was noticeable in entire kitchen. As a puppy my dapple dachshund would beg for this kibble. I would vac seal a food saver pouch 3”x3” and cut a little slit in middle. My puppy would run with pouch and fish out one kibble at a time it would take an hour before she finished off the 1/4 cup.

Great for dogs with allergies!
My standard poodle is allergic to anything with chicken and is hard to find food that works for him that he will eat. He loves this brand, has zero allergies with it, his stools are hard, and he inhales it when I feed him. Great find!!

high quality
This may sound weird but you can always tell how good a dog food is by your dog’s stool. If it is high quality ingredients that they absorb, they will poo a lot less. I use this and wellness core which they love. but one month I was tight on money and just got the wellness core. well now we’re back to the canidae and when they go poo, its WAY less. and it doesn’t smell as much. def high quality ingredients. they don’t like the red bag but they love the fish flavor

It’s been discontinued sadly
Love this - but I guess it got discontinued. So now I gotta switch. My pup did so well on this one. So far I’m on my third bag of another kind but he’s not doing as well on these. Guess I’m going to switch brands next. This makes me sad.
