What I like about this book first of all, was the way he tied people together. He didn't do it too much or too little. It was perfect as far as keeping me wanting more. I could put it down but I got back to asap and when I did I wasn't lost like you can be in some book. The writing overall was great as well as the plot. The only things that I didn't like was the book would say something happend and then would have it happen again like he forgot he mentioned this part already, I noticed it twice. For Lou-Loc to be such a smart person, I didn't like some of the mistake the book made him make like going over to old girl house at the end and spilling out his plans of leaving like he did to her. He could of easliy just went about this business and left, then to go without a strap, even if he was out the game, nobody who just had a hit attempted on his life; will sell all his guns and go to the hood without one. Other than that, I thougt the book was great and I'm bout to jump right into the next one. Recommend to all true book readers.

Must read
I was so excited about teading this book that I went ahead and our shades the sequel “Gutter” at the same time. I couldn’t put the book down, even while at work. Every chapter had me wanting to know more. I just started the sequel and let me say it does not disappoint. Do yourself a favor and just buy both at the same time. Cause when I say you’ll be anxious waiting for your book to come int th le mail, trust it.

Harlem Baby!
When Kwan released Gutter I couldn't wait to read it but I found out that it was a sequel. I thought I had read all of his books, but I somehow skipped over Gangsta. I read it just so I could read Gutter and know all the characters.I really enjoyed Gangsta. The characters were colorful and the story kept you on the edge of your seat. The ending was perfect! Two rival gangs, The Crips and The Blood fight to take over the streets of New York City. Gutter is head of the the Crips and El Diablo is head of the Bloods. But they have soliders on their own team who both wanna knock them out of leadership permanently. When someone makes an attempt to take Gutter's life things get bloody and dangerous.Lou Loc's has to take over while Gutter is laid up in the hospital in a coma. Lately, he's been thinking of getting out the game but his girlfriend Martina encourages him to stay in so she can continue to live the ghetto fabulous lifestyle. But when Lou Loc meets Satin he literally puts his life on the line in more ways than one. With a rival gang that wants him dead, a scandalous girlfriend who never wants him to leave the game and a new woman that loves him..Lou Loc doesn't know which way to turn. This story was definitely a pageturner. The ending was perfect!Rating 4.5(I can't wait to read Gutter and I can't for his new book Section 8 to hit stores!)

TRUE TO THE BLUE!
K'wan did his thing as usual in this book. He captured the real street edge of a GANGSTA CRIP almost like he lived the life himself. Lou-Loc was definetely a Soldier and an O.G. true and blue. He never portrayed a buster, and was always loyal to the homies and down to "put in work". But K'wan portrayed another part of him, the softer intellectual sensitive side of the Thug mentality that is not often seen in what the world views as THUGS and GANGSTA's. That side of yearning for more out of life. K'wan is a genius of illustrating his work, and it is as if you are truly there going through what you read. He took me back some 34-37 years when I was CRIPPIN and repping my set from 1971-1974 as an E/S CRIP, later E/S AVALON 5-TRAY GANGSTER CRIP now called E/S AVALON GANGSTER CRIPS straight out from "Killa Cali". K'wan always keeps you on the edge of your seat with his novels and turning pages. TRU BLU 4 LIFE!
