This may be the perfect camp knife.
I am a bit at a loss of words to describe this knife. (So ironically I’ll use several) I have lived long in the world of 30 dollar knives. Some are half decent and I don’t mind losing them. But they break and they don’t hold edge very well. So I decided to upgrade. I did some research and reading I decided to move up to mid range. Came down to this one and one from Germany. Then I saw the German one was actually from Spain and if you want the real German one it is $400 Plus. Well I don’t know if a knife is worth $400 but I do know I can get a Ruger 10 22 for that so ... USA made in the 100 range it was. Boy what a difference Between this and a 30 dollar knife. This thing is hefty. I cant imagine breaking it ever. Full tang and thick hefty scales. It came razor sharp from the factory. I’m talking shave your arm sharp. The back edge is wide to take batoning. The back blade is not rounded so it strikes a ferro rod crisply and puts out good spark. The shape and razor sharp edge make me want to try skinning on the next wild boar I shoot. (Albeit it’s is a bit heavy to use as an everyday capeing knife.). But in a pinch? Oh yes it will cut. I don’t know what you get extra when spending 400 to 700 dollars for knife. And now I never will know. Just bought my forever camp knife.

This is a great knife for bushcrafting
This is a great knife for bushcrafting. If you're looking at this instead of one of the other's in a similar price category it's probably because of the S30V steel. I've not abused mine but it's got a sharp blade from the factory and it retains the edge quite well. The full-tang follows the extensions on the grip making it easy to feel nuances in cutting. The grip itself is smooth and one of the things it could use is some fine checkering to make it easier to retain & grip with gloves or in the rain as is on FirstEdge 5050 and 5150 knives. If you by the EOD and yearn for a leather sheath, Benchmade sells them separately on their website for $25. There's also a number of leather makers that do custom sheaths for this knife. The only other complaint I have is that if you buy the coyote EOD model that comes with the Kydex sheath the blade is not secured by a strap. The sheath's molded, friction retention is pretty good but if you worry about losing it you'll have to fabricate yourself a shock-cord retention loop.

Great blade really poor handle
There are a lot of reviews of this knife so check them out for the good stuff. I love the steel, the blade and the knife in general, but the handle is really bad. I sort of see what they were trying to do, but I have a medium hand and not all that big of one at that, and the handle does not fit my hand. It is too short as the little finger is up on the end of the handle and that is uncomfortable. The bottle shaped handle itself is a mess, at least in my hand. I have to wonder it would actually feel good if the handle was a bit longer so the large area fit more of my hand. It is too bad that one of the pins is in the highest part of the blade as it prevents some sanding to help the handle shape. All that said, I am really disappointed in this item as it is one of the most expensive knives I own and it will be one of the least used. That is really a shame as the blade is really nice. Oh, the sheath is not bad as it has a belt loop that is high enough above the sheath to ride well.

b in a godspeed sheath vertical which i still love but wanted something non coated and a little thinner ...
I ordered this knofe 3 days ago. Its been on my wish list. I carried the b.o.b in a godspeed sheath vertical which i still love but wanted something non coated and a little thinner so i went with this beauty. The knife is gorgeous well made solid. Fits well in my hand razor sharp. Good weight. Nice balance. Im excited to test the edge retention. The knife itself gets 5 stars off the bat. The sheath on the other hand sucks. Its thin and it doesnt have a thumb break so to speak. The kydex rides up the handle and when i recieved it the handle was kinda covered in black dirt im assuming bits of kydex or when they formed it. Same with the blade. So i ordered a custom scout style sheath with a fire steel holder should be arriving in 2 weeks. And the benchmade box was a little damaged. Other then that id buy and reccomend this knife to any outdoorsman

It’s always so nice (and rare these days) to open a box and not be disappointed by the quality level of your purchase. The pride this manufacturer takes in their craftsmanship is obvious. I have to nit-pick to find anything I didn’t like about this knife. Based on another review I was expecting a rather hard angle at the very top of the grip. Less than ten minutes with one of my wife’s Emory boards resolved that very minor issue. I’m not a big fan of Kydex so I had already ordered a custom sheath before I received the knife. I’m perfectly ok with Benchmade putting almost all the retail cost into the knife. I’ll toss the Kydex into the “spare parts” box as a backup. I needed a new, good all round outdoor/camping knife. I don’t think I will be disappointed in this one.Edited to add photo with Review Outdoor Gear sheath:

wanted to like this knife, just didnt work for me
Was looking for a good all around trail, bushcraft knife, but didnt work for me.At time of purchase, the tan was shown with a dark leather sheath. When arrived was loose in box in a kydex sheath, black debris everywhere and scuffs all over handle. Confirmed on BM website was legit, and was planning to scuff it up more so no worries. Found out the blade was shaving off kydex every time it was sheathed/unsheathedPros-The blade. S30v is done well by BM super sharp great design.Cons- ergonomicsWith exception of thumb groove, my L-XL hands did not work with the middle and hilt swells of the scales, made holding akward and uncomfortable. It would have been a plus: the sturdy open rivets for longevity, but also means cant change the scales or grind down the swells. Also there appears no way to adjust retension of the kydex sheathIn summary, recommend hands on trial of this before considering buying and for BM, would defn consider buying again if you redesign the scales or come out with a simular knife
