Works well
We get entire families of raccoons trying to get at the bird feeders each year....this baffle does the trick. I wish the color were different...more to match the 4x4 post it's intended to mount on...stands out too much. so I'm painting it and mine came a little bent in the box, from shipping, but I straightened it as best I could and it'll work.... It keeps the raccoons off the feeder that get in thru the electric fence so I'm satisfied.

Problem Solved!
For years I have been having to deal with bringing my bird feeders in at night because of raccoon problems, and during the day my wife and I having to constantly chase squirrels away. If ever we weren't going to have someone home during the day, we'd have to bring them in also, or deal with everything being gone by the time we got home. And if we ever forgot to bring the feeders in at night, or didn't get home before dark to bring them in, also, everything gone... including the suet feeder itself. The raccoons would steal the whole feeder! Finally we bought a metal cone style baffle, which worked great on the squirrels, and I was so excited... until about the 3rd night when the raccoons found out I'd been leaving the feeders out at night, and that baffle was no match for them. Everything was gone the next morning, suet feeder and all. I did a little more research and found this baffle, which was said to be a squirrel AND raccoon baffle. The other customers' reviews seemed promising, so I figured I'd give it a shot. I like having the feeders on a 4x4 wood post because the woodpeckers seem to like pecking little holes to place the seed in so they can crack it open, so I wanted a baffle that would work for a 4x4 post. So finally to the review of THIS particular baffle. After 3 nights, we thought we could see some dirt smudges on it that appeared as if they could be paw prints, and the feeders were all still there and had food left in them, which was a good sign. On the 4th night it was out, and I promise I'm not making this up, but 2 raccoons did what they very rarely do in our yard and came into the yard just before dark so we were able to actually watch them. It was around dusk when the first one came. He ate seed that had fallen to the ground for a few minutes, then left without even trying, so our guess is he'd already been there the night before and tried and failed to climb past this baffle. Then came the 2nd raccoon, and he tried for about 20 minutes, a good dozen tries at least, to climb this baffle. Each time he was able to get his front paws around it with his back paws on the wood post and hang on for about 20 to 30 seconds, then each time he tried advancing any higher than that, he fell off. He finally gave up and left. I'm stoked! No more having to bring the feeders in!!

I does appear to do what it says
I got this for a bird feeder that has a camera. it was expensive and I didn't want squirrels chewing the wires or Raccoons destroying it, as they have every other feeder. I live deep in the woods, and needed to find something that would deter it. the very first night of having this up, it was obvious that a raccoon had been trying all night, and had literally dug all the way around the pole trying to dig it up, but never was able to climb up to get the seed. Directions suck, there are none. I mounted the flange 48" from the ground, and then the tube just slides over and balances on the flange. I bought the longer of the two baffles sold on Amazon, as I had heard stories that on the shorter one the raccoon was able to reach the top of the tube and pull himself up. I think they are too pricey for what they are, but It is working.

DOES NOT WORK FOR ALL RACCOONS
I have cedar bird feeders on top of 4x4 cedar posts. Tried all the different discount options to keep the raccoons out of these feeders but was unsuccessful. I decided to spend $100 and buy 2 of these long baffles. The do work for the majority of the raccoons who attempt it but I have a couple of superstars that plant their feet on the wood post at the bottom while hugging the baffle. They are strong enough even with the movement to make one strong surge up far enough to hook one paw over the top edge and then they pull themselves up from there. I bought some metal flashing and put a cone at the top of the baffle but they can still force their paw up onto the flat surface and then reach past the cone I added to the wood base which is just enough to grab onto to pull themselves up to the treasure. I added flashing around the wood base hoping that everything else that is wood is out of reach. No guarantees but this will definitely not stop all raccoons.

Worked great for 2 months
UPDATE: I was initially very happy with this, but it only took 2 months for the squirrels to figure out how to jump and scale right up on it to the feeder. Bummer. I've since replaced this with a green metal wrap-around shallow upside-down-funnel-shaped cone baffle instead, which seems to be working thus far. Downgraded from 5 stars to 3; may work for others, but our squirrels ended up seeing this tubular baffle as a challenge to overcome, rather than a barrier.ORIGINAL REVIEW:This works exactly as intended, easy to put on, fits perfectly, and no squirrels have been able to access my bird feeder cam since adding this to my outdoor post. The edge got a little dented in transit, but I positioned that so it doesn’t show from the front, and I don’t really care anyway since it’s still a nice looking baffle and more important, it is effective.

PRICEY, BUT SEEMS RACCOON-PROOF
We used to have a bird feeder that hung from a tree. Raccoons started knocking it down every night and eating all the feed. I spent $100 on this device, a 4x4 post, and some feeder mounting hardware. Since doing that and moving everything to the front yard, the raccoons seem to be stymied...and believe me, they've been trying. Even the squirrels and chipmunks have been thwarted, left to glean whatever the birds rake out of the feeder. It's pricey, but works. Be sure to mount the guard high enough so varmints can't jump over it. In our installation, the bottom of the guard is 3' off the ground.
