NEW AC Adapter/Power Supply for HP/Compaq 371790-001 402018-001 DC359A

Edit January 2010: I now have three dead adapters. The third one frizzled because the power cable came apart, exposing the wires. This one barely lasted half a year. That makes three adapters from three different companies all dead and/or unsafe to use. I don't know what's going on with these. I've never had these problems with any of my previous laptops and their adapters. Anyway, I was able to restore semi-functionality for now by replacing the power cable with one from the older adapters that had fried, but power goes on and off whenever I move the laptop slightly so I assume I won't get much more use out of it and just ordered yet a new one. It's getting frustrating.-----I bought this adapter to replace the original that had come with my HP laptop and frizzled out after a few years of use. I got almost a year's worth of use out of it before it, too, frizzled out. It won't recharge the laptop any more and crackles with static and smells like something shortened out inside every time I plug it in now, making it seem very unsafe to even attempt to use. I'm hoping to get a free replacement, since it appears to have a one-year warranty and fried within that time period, but haven't heard back from the vendor yet. I'll give it two stars because it was cheap compared to other choices and I had no complaints while it was working, but I'm very disappointed that it didn't even last a year. I was hoping to use the new adapter until I replace the computer and that definitely did not happen.(Update: Apparently a one-year-warranty does not cover a full year of use on this model. I ordered it Aug. 7, 2008, it was shipped Aug. 8, 2008, got it the week after, and it fried on Aug. 6, 2009 and I emailed the vendor (OptimumSolution) right away. They just told me that the warranty already expired. Go figure. I guess you get what you pay for if you go for cheap.)

This cord arrived from the provider on time and in great condition. The unit works perfectly and powered up my machine with little heating of the power cord.This being said there are a couple drawbacks. The cord from the inverter to the wall outlet is not as long as pictured, only about 2 feet long. The shipper sent the unit unboxed in a padded envelope with no packing list.Overall, I give them a 4 out of 5. I will order from them again in the future.

My laptop battery had outlived most of it's life and I was permanently connected to the power cord. Recently, the transformer box on the cord started chirping and then died. I ordered a new HP battery and this new cord. My goodness, the price can't be beat!!!!! The laptop is up and running again, holding a long charge. I know now not to use it on battery power when that' not necessary. It will remain on the power cord whenever possible. One note, this power cord is a little bit shorter than the original one, maybe about a foot, but that's the only difference. Thank you Amazon!

There's nothing complicated about a charger. This one works fine and is a great value for the price. It does what it's supposed to--it charges my laptop with no problems whatsoever. I gave it four stars instead of five because I just wish it was longer. I would probably buy this again if I needed one though.

Good if you need something quick and cheap to turn on a computer. If you want a quality charger that will last a ling time then you jeed to spend a lot more dough. This will be good for a few months before it shorts out.

my power cord broke when i most needed it, i thought that it would cost me an arm and a leg for a new one and at the local vendors it was, but i was able to get it from these vendors for a fair affordable price earlier they had helped me get a battery and they cater to my laptop even if it isn't the newest, they are fast affordable and understanding i would definitely suggest them to anyone in the future

My daughter needed this piece because she had rocked on her old with with a recliner and messed the wires up on the inside of the cord. So instead of buying one through the local store, I ordered to pennies on the dollar. She is well satisfied with the product and it is doing a great job.

At first I thought it didn't fit, but then I pushed it in more energetically and it went in. So it is a very tight fit. I haven't had any trouble with it, though, and that's the important thing and a tight fit might mean it will not easily wear.
