I live in Hawaii without ac (70's at night) - how hot do you feel sleeping on it?

We live in Arizona! It gets hot some nights, but we have AC all the time during the hot months when it gets to about 110 degrees during the day. At night, we are in the desert and it drops to 70 to 80, but we leave the AC on. The answer to your question is, it is cool to us here in Arizona because of the AC. Have no idea about where you are in Hawaii since we have never been there. Sorry!

will my queen size boxspring work with this mattress?

You *can* use a standard box spring with a foam mattress, but it significantly reduces the life of the mattress as the bottom weight will not support evenly (just like on top how a foam mattress conforms to pressure rather than distribute it like a coil mattress). You would be much better off to get a plank base or a thin box made to support foam. The difference is that these options have a wide surface area and do the work of distributing the weight, which a classic spring box is not as well equipped to do. Hope that helps clarify
