A very capable thrower at a bargain price.
I was excited when I heard that Sofirn was releasing a longer range light. I have a SP33 V2 that I purchased and was very impressed with. Enough that I sent a couple as gifts. Sofirn is a somewhat of a newer name in the flashlight world. The facebook groups and forums (there is such a thing if you were not aware) were buzzing with anticipation for this release. I was happy to hear that it was releasing through Amazon as shipping times would be exponentially quicker than some traditional sites that cater to flashlight enthusiasts.Upon arrival I was indifferent with the lack luster packaging but noted the packaging did protect the light in transit. I do enjoy when a product arrives in a well designed package. That being said, when it comes to flashlights, packaging is worthless in the dark. The light feels well made. It is substantial in hand and the machining is surprisingly good at this price point. The heat sinks are well cut and free of sharp edges or burrs. The anodizing is consistent and seems to be of good quality. The reflector is an orange peel style although a smooth reflector would be my preference. This is one of the great things about Sofirn. They are in constant contact with the flashlight community and have noted that a smooth reflector is in the works and was delayed due to some manufacturing issues. My second concern was that the anti-roll / tactical ring was loose and may prevent a sealing issue. I realized after that this was the design and the ring seats between two o-rings. It is removable and the o-ring closest to the tail cap is what ultimately seals the body to achieve the waterproof rating.Accessories: I purchased the package that includes the light and two 5500mAh size 26650 batteries and a dual bay charger that can accommodate a variety of rechargeable cells. A micro usb cord is included that powers the charger. The light ships with spare o-rings, two split rings to attach the included should strap and a replacement switch cover. The charger is better than those that are often included in lights in this price range. The charger pulled 2 amps during the cycle and ramped down as the cells reached capacity. The light is impressive in the hand and in performance. A quick comparison showed distance results comparable to a thrunite catapult and an astrolux FT03. The amount of light was far greater and there was some spill that illuminated the area in front of me. The light gets warm but does manage to dissipate heat quite well. I am impressed with the quality and performance of the light.I purchased this light at full price and did not receive any compensation or discount for my review.

If To Own Only One Flashlight...
Except as a EDC this would be the one. The beam pattern has a really good flood but the center spot reaches out quite well too. It is not as much flood as allot of the soda can lights are and center spot is definitely no LEP or dedicated thrower it more a baby bear type blend of both on a quadruple espresso. Turbo is impressive. High is really usable as well. Has firefly too. I've only had it a few days but am impressed. The design seems to push towards longer run times as would be in emergency use of use it until the batteries conk out. It does not heat up near as much as allot of lights do. It is a heavy flashlight. It is a deal at the current price. For a home owner that should have a versatile cover all the bases all around flashlight that sits with the toolbox in the laundry room closet this would be it. The size makes it hard to quickly misplace and not only that could surly bludgeon the heck out of say a unsuspecting purse snatcher and still work to signal for help. The dual button set up is very convenient and intuitive. The bells and whistles are at a minimum. This is the old school chrome large head flash light people used to have and thought was bitchen bright having the power of four whole carbon Eveready Cat D cells and was given a 40 year update make over with essential hi-tech bludgeonabiliy engineered in and needed when taking fluffy out for it's ankle biting yappy walk at night.Edit 11/25: After having it a few weeks and doing a battery upgrade higher drain & higher capacity that enhanced performance a noticeable bit. Better run times. Brighter? The run time difference makes it seem like it is.

Great Flashlight - Second Go-Around
The first flashlight I received had a faulty battery indicator and would always remain red no matter how much voltage was present in the batteries. The flashlight would function normally and go through the modes but with a constant red "low battery" indication. I tested the resting battery voltage to about 4.15V each cell (8.3V to the flashlight) which should be indicated with a green momentary light on the mode selector switch during operation and constant green indication in stand-by mode. Thankfully Amazon has a cross-shipping replacement policy which had me a new flashlight in two days and my replacement works flawlessly. Thanks Amazon ;0)As for my second flashlight I am quite pleased. It is very well built with a super-tough hard-anodized body. The knurled grip is very attractive and functional with a rear "grip-stop" that prevents the flashlight from slipping out of your hand. The grip stop also helps prevent the flashlight from rolling when laying on it's side. The tail cap has a robust clicker style main switch that can easily be used to key Morse code by half-pressing the switch. The rubber boot over the switch is guarded by the crown of the tail cap with a notch to fit your finger into for ease of use.The main function switch on the side has a translucent silicone cap over the switch which could in theory be a weak link in the flashlights durability. There is a replacement cap included in the box which makes me think that Sofirn though the same thing however no instructions or web-support (that I could find) showing how to service this switch cap.The flashlight weighs in at 1 pound, 14.6 ounces which does not make it a very good candidate for a daily carry flashlight but it makes up for that in power output. This light can easily keep up with "throwers" three times the price with an awesome spot-to-spill ratio. There is a bit of a color shift from the XHP 70.2 LED lamp from the center of the beam to the outer spill edges but it is normal for this type of lamp. The overall color of light is warmer than expected but on-par with a "cool white" color profile. The reflector is very well designed with an "orange peel" diffusing surface that evens out the beam and prevents hard-edge shadowing. The lens crystal appears to be glass but looks kind of vulnerable to damage if dropped on any objects. This would be the case with any heavy flashlight with a 80mm crystal.Nothing about this flashlight is cheap looking and it performs just how it looks. I plan to use my SP70 for home protection as I would not want to be on the receiving end of this photon cannon ;0)
