Rubies Fifties Girl Costume for Kids, Girl's Small

I bought this costume for our seven year old granddaughter who loves to watch the opera Carmen* on DVD starring Nadia Krasteva - our favorite version! She wanted to be Carmen or a Spanish dancer for Holloween so I got this costume and she puts it on almost everyday. She and her two year old sister, who dons a purple princess dress, love to sing and dance along with this opera, twirling scarves, clacking clackers (kid castanets) and being dramatic.The costume seems well sewn and fairly durable, especially for the price. There is red nylon netting from which each satin ruffle hangs, except for the ruffle at the waist. There was a nylon rose at the waist that did come off, but a couple of stitches holds it fast now. I intend to introduce a couple of picture books about Spain and maybe make paella or some tapas to broaden the whole "Spanish" experience.*This opera was staged in the open air at the old Roman quarry of St. Margarethen, Austria. The set was absolutely gorgeous and so huge that horses and carriages easily paraded across the "stage". Nadia is beautiful to see and hear. A must see DVD!

This dress is exactly as pictured, and beautiful!! My 6yr old LOVES it and gets multiple compliments on it. She is very slim, and this dress fits her beautifully. So happy we found a unique and beautiful dress for Halloween and dress up! The bottom of the dress has been stepped on a lot (by me and my 1yr old son) and it still looks like new.

The quality is what is expected for the price, but it's cute. Hope it makes it through Halloween night! My only complaint is there is see through mesh under the ruffles so you definitely need leggings underneath. I bought a medium for my tall 6 yo based off of the other reviews that said the dress ran small but need to return it for the small. It hangs on her and is too low at the top so I would say the sizing is accurate- go with your child's actual size.

Such a pretty costume but if the pleats are individually lifted you can see right through mesh. So if you want this one, have your girl wear leggings or shorts underneath.

I bought this for our dress-up trunk, and it is gorgeous! The most beautiful costume she has ever owned. It its well without being too revealing (I was wondering about the off-the-shoulder style.) My daughter can put it on herself (even backwards) because there is no front/back like on a normal shirt. The hair accessory is a little disappointing but I don't really care... the dress is so beautiful and detailed that's all that matters to me.

My daughter wore this for Halloween and if literally shredded apart at the seems through the night! By the end of the night one side was completely shredded!! The other side was coming apart. It was cute for like 1 minute till we discovered the first hold at the seem - I thought oh it's a little hole it'll be ok - no it wasn't.

The small size is going to fit my 21/2 year 40lb grandchild perfectly. She will wear black bike shorts and undershirt under outfit.She has very long black hair so no wig needed. The costume seems to be better than average style and construction. Pay close attention to the measurements given to get the proper size.I am pleased with this purchase and happy that I will not be sewing one at the last minute.
