Very silky skin
This does make my skin feel superbly silky and soft and it creates a bit of a porcelain, matte finish. But it's subtle. My skin doesn't feel tight or dry. I'm not sure how much "toning" effect it has. They say it creates firmer skin. Well, what it seems to do on me is just smooth out or "firm" up the very surface wrinkles a bit (I don't have many) and this doesn't go deep. But with it's formula, it also minimizes the appearance of wrinkles I think--but only very fine ones.It has no odor from what I can tell, or maybe a very faint one. But it's nothing that should bother anyone I don't think. It's a serum, not a lotion, so it pumps out clear and a bit runny. Be careful to only use tiny amounts at a time, so you don't waste it. A tiny drop, about the size of a cupcake sprinkle can do most of your face. Which makes it a pretty good bargain. All in all, I'm happy to add this product to my skincare routine.

Drying
I always get Dr. Hauschka confused with Weleda, which is an organic skincare brand sold in natural food stores. Dr. Hauschka is almost completely the opposite, as it's considered more of a traditional European luxury brand. And, as with many old-school skincare brands, this contains a lot of things that modern folk are trending away from. First of all, the SECOND ingredient listed is alcohol. In addition, there's added fragrance (aka "parfum"), as well as a host of essential oils (Limonene, Geraniol, Citronellol, Linalool and Farnesol). Personally, I'm not bothered by added fragrance and I enjoyed its mild rose aroma but the deal breaker for me is that it's extremely drying.Immediately after applying the clear, gel-like serum, my skin felt slightly tight. It reminds me of those alcohol based acne treatments that were so popular years ago. After four days use, my skin's texture looks noticeably less dewy and plump, While it's not flaking or peeling (like you'd see after using an acid peel or retinoid) it's just a bit deflated and "orange peel-ish," if that makes sense. I've been using this at night, immediately after cleansing, completely by itself (not layered over a toner/essence or under a moisturizer) and I'm very unimpressed with the results. I chalk it up to the amount of alcohol. Try at your own risk
