My Rottweiler “came with” some Musher’s when I adopted him. And I continue to buy it! It works great and it’s easy to apply. I’ll either lather my hands and massage it into his toe pads, or I’ll just dip his clean paws right into the container (then massage it in).He’s had dry skin in a few places too, like his elbows. It has worked great for that too! It has prevented him from getting dry, crusty elbows!The texture is much like vaseline or carmex, so it’s not really going to rub-in entirely, but it’s going to moisturize the heck out of whatever you rub it on. Knowing her tendency of rifling through purses/backpacks to steal chapstick it was pretty clear what happened and sure enough I soon discovered the 60g container of mushers secret open and licked clean on the living room floor.I was able to verify that this product was non-toxic very quickly and was assured that it would pass safely, but no one mentioned the possibility that passing it would mean that wax would literally seep out of my dogs anus. She never had an accident in the house - the wax just literally passed right through her and collected in the surrounding fur. This kept happening over the next 48 hours - I would get a whiff of mushers secret and grab a wet towel to try to wipe it away before it solidified in her fur. This was obviously an imperfect process, and was accompanied by a lot of scooting and 2 highly un-enjoyable baths where I somehow managed to convince my bath hating pup that sitting and letting my scrub all the gunk away from the fur surrounding her anus was the only way to end her discomfort. After a couple days of this and a few more (less dramatic) candle poos the process was finally over.When the snow melted a week later I found the wax "tracks" of that first liquid expulsion laying on the ground, and some birds were grabbing pieces to reinforce their nests. I was skeptical. There's a lot of hokey pet products these days. But this stuff is awesome. My 10lb Pomeranian is an indoor dog, so being on cement or outdoors is "ruff" on his paws. He started getting callouses, dry pads, and minor cracks. One time to the point where he would walk around the house and all of a sudden jump/flinch and immediately drop to lick his paw pad. Upon inspection, he had a small crack.I got this and incorporated it into his bed routine. He's half asleep, so less inclined to lick it off. In a few days it was much better visibly, and also noticed be stopped flinching and licking his paw pad.I like that it's not toxic in case the dog licks it and smells like Vic's vapor rub for humans lol. This size works well for our dog and the thickness of the cream makes me feel like we're wasting product by going through it each time we use it.
