best little heater
I almost gave up on finding a heater that actually lived up to the standards in their descriptions. Two others that I tried never went past 72 degrees, although the descriptions said they went to 78 degrees. This little BettaTherm heater is the absolute best. It stays at a consistent 79-80 degrees. My Betta, Clifford is just thriving in his 2.5 gallon bowl. He is so much more active since I put in this heater. This heater takes up no room, is flat and covered by your rocks on the bottom of the bowl. There is a suction cup that holds the cord nicely against the side of the bowl. I would say..stop looking at other heaters, this is the best out there.

Almost killed my fish
As a first time betta owner, I wanted only the best for my fish. I bought this heater out of concern he'd be cold situated in my living room, which has a lot of windows. Easy fix, right? Not so much..It seemed to work fine for the first few weeks, and kept the bowl fluctuating between 75 to 80 degrees. My fish was happy. Then all of the sudden, I started seeing little black flakes appear at the top of the bowl. I have a wood beam ceiling so I thought it was falling from above (although I didn't take into account the isolation of the flake appearances). I would just scoop out the flakes and thought all was well. I even cleaned the water a couple times and didn't notice anything amiss with the heater.About a week after the flakes started appearing, I came home to a very sick fish. He is brightly multi-colored and extremely active, and he was at the bottom of his bowl almost solid white and not moving. I placed him in another container and began inspecting the problem. That's when I finally saw it.The heater had BURNED THROUGH ITSELF! There was a hole on the bottom, and toxic burning pieces of plastic had been poisoning my poor fish for a whole week.Thankfully he got better and is happy once again, but I'll never use this brand or heater again. It's a fish killer! DON'T BUY IT!

VERY GOOD UTILITY HEATER
I ordered this in anticipation of using it with a 2nd Betta tank I was planning on starting. After reading the other reviews, I was a little unsure, but thought I'd give it try in the new tank before I actually introduced my as-of-yet-unpurchased new Betta. I currently use the Hydor MINI HEATER Aquarium Heater 7.5 Watts for Tanks 2-5 gal in my first tank, a 2.5 gallon Aqueon Double Sided Black Mini Bow Desktop Aquarium Kit. The Hydor works very well, but doesn't lay as flat as I'd like. The design of the Zoo Med looked more promising.Upon receiving it though, I had the idea to use it to heat the aged water that I keep on hand for water changes. The 2 gallon container I use stays at about 68 degrees in my apartment. The Zoo Med raises that up to between 74 and 76 degrees, which is just about perfect since the Hydor keeps the Mini Bow between 76 and 78 degrees. The Zoo Med takes about 12 hours (sometimes a little quicker if the ambient temp in the apartment is warmer) to bring the water to where I want it, but that's OK for me since this is water that I'm aging. As a utility heater, it works great for my purposes. I'm giving it 4 stars since I've never used it in a live aquarium.

Betta Fish Paradise!
Fabulous! I keep my betta fish in a classic glass fishbowl and have an air conditioning unit in my bedroom, the combination of these two kept his water pretty cold for a while until I ordered this product! It raises the temperature a just couple degrees and keeps it the perfect warm temperature to make him comfortable. There has been a noticeable change in his behavior since...you can tell he's much happier and healthier!

Me and my heater issues
So this is the 3rd heater I've tried, the first two being the same ones though. After reading some of the reviews I thought it would run hot like a few mention, however for me it doesn't run hot, I have about a gallon bowl and it stays at 70F but I guess it's an improvement from it's 68F it was yesterday. I really think the heater would work better in a closed environment, since my bowl has a large mouth (think salad bowl) as well as I live in a very drafty apartment the temperature is more likely to be cooler than it could be.So for me it's just okay, but one thing I really like is it's circular shape which fits well at the bottom of the bowl.

Defective. Don't waste time and money purchasing this.
I thought this would be the perfect heater for my small bio orb tank, which can be a little awkward to fit a heater in. The pad warmed a little when I plugged it in so I thought it would work. Submerged this in my baby bio orb and waited a half day. Nothing. Temperature stayed at 60 degrees. I felt the pad, some warmth coming from it but not much. The water did not go up even a degree. *Sigh*Another small heater disappointment. I wanted to purchase another betta and they require at best a minimum of 75-I prefer a unit that can at least make it to 78. Only good thing is apparently I am a ''valued customer'' so I do not have to make a trip to the PO and ship it back. Got my refund.Next time will pay attention to the negative reviews and not think that I will be the lucky one. Back to the drawing board.

No more sluggish Betta
We bought this for our little Betta Bowl because our Betta was getting pretty sluggish this winter. It seems to be doing the trick! He's swimming around a lot more & the water is definitely warmer. Super easy to use...just put the heating element in the bottom of the bowl, cover w/ rock, suction cup the tube to the outside of the bowl & plug it in. Works great!

Disappointed
I bought this product a month ago when I got my betta...at the time he was in a one gallon bowl and it worked perfectly! It kept the water at a steady 79 degrees, but I recently moved him into a 2.5 gallon bowl and it barely goes three degrees above room temperature. ): I am actually quite upset because I don't want my fish to meet his end because of false advertisement on the packaging ):
