Works like a champ
This was my first time using underground quick couplers and originally planned to use a plastic version. The local irrigation shop cautioned against that and recommended one they carried. It was really nice but way outside my budget. I purchased these based on favorable reviews and was really pleased when they arrived. Very well made, brass cap is sturdy and they really work well. Installation was easy, they only have about a 4" body so not hard level out in our trenches. One got fouled after our initial use and we found the 'key' used to connect a sprinkler has a silver handle that allows you to insert, depress the valve and purge out any debris. Worked great1 Very pleased with Orbit's version of this valve and would recommend highly.

They don't leak
I own three of these connected to my sprinkler system, and none of them leak. Very useful to have hidden spigots spread over our 2 acres.

This is a Great Quick Coupler Valve
Because of the way that the plumbing was done on my house, both of the outdoor hose spigots are located pretty far away from my driveway. So last year, I decided to install this quick coupler valve in my yard right next to the driveway and it has worked out great. It makes accessing a good water supply much quicker and easier. Whenever I need to wash off my vehicle or lawn tractor, now all I have to do is grab the key (Orbit WaterMaster Underground 51031 3/4-Inch Brass Quick Coupler Key), a small section of garden hose, and a nozzle from the garage and within a minute or so I am all set up. With this valve installed, I no longer have to drag hundreds of feet of garden hose across my yard, just to get a water supply. I also installed a round irrigation valve box with a green lid around the quick coupler valve, so that when it is not in use, it is covered up and safely out of the way. I wish I would have installed this product years ago. Keep up the good work Orbit.

Well made and very functional... now with a possible upgrade?
Well made and very functional... now with a possible upgrade?I bought one of these on Amazon 2 years ago to install near my kids' raised garden so they wouldn't have to drag the heavy hose out there all the time. It worked out great and has done fine over the years. I installed it underground within a round box, so it's well protected; therefore, I can't comment as to the durability to external forces.I just ordered a second one to install elsewhere in my yard, and I see that the cover is now made of brass -- the old one is made of a flexible plastic (almost rubbery). It seems like the old plastic cover would do better to keep out debris since it has a large lip that goes down around the valve. Although, I can see the metal cover probably being more durable and do better against external forces, which would probably be good if you just install it in the open (not in a buried box).I'm thinking of installing this new valve without a box (almost flush with the ground), and if I do, I will be sure to update this review after a year or so to see how well it holds up.

They worked great and seem to last longer than the old ones I replaced

better than Rainbird for my application
I have several Rainbird valves in my underground irrigation water system. Almost all of them leak around the base of the 'key' when it's installed in the valve. I replaced one of the Rainbird valves three years ago with an Orbit and it has NEVER leaked, even when I use the Rainbird 'key'. The Orbit valves is also about 1/3 the price of a Rainbird. All of my valves are buried in the soil and have never been damaged by freezing weather.

East to engage and remove valve.
Works perfect. I installed at a rental property to prevent use of water. The brass handle is removable.

Made Just Like the Original Rainbird
There are a slew of aftermarket quick coupler valves for the "35" series Rainbird sprinkler key but this one is the best of all, except Rainbird. Lot less spendy and has replaceable "O" rings.
