you will be amazed
I have had mine running for a couple of weeks now and I like it. It seems to work better than the other brand that I had previously.PlusesIf you have never used a SSD as a boot drive you will be amazed. My hard disk drive can come close. Your start up time will be reduced to almost nothing. That browser that always takes forever to load will almost slam onto your desktop. Things like Photoshop open way faster. You will never go back to a disc boot drive again. Because of the small capacity this works best as a Boot drive. Your old disc drive is then used as a storage drive. Installation is easy since it is so lightweight. If used in a laptop it will cure the sluggishness that plagues many laptops. The really big thing here is that you are getting a drive from a company with a commitment to service. They actually have a non secret phone number where you can speak with someone who knows about the product and can walk you through any problems. Try to get that from 99% of today's companies. This drive also has good specs.Great buy for money.MinusThese are mostly not negatives for this drive. These are simply facts about bare drives in general. Mostly. You are buying a bare drive, probably because of the cost. You do not get the holder to make it fit the 3 1/2" drive slot in most PC's but you probably don't need one anyway. You need to go to the website for the instructions if you need them. You do not get software to migrate the operating system to the new drive if you are going to do that. If you need those things there id a $20 installation pack that you can get from Crucial that has all that. I used EaseUS Todo Backup Free 7.0 for the migration and it worked fine. It can handle the special requirements of a Hard drive to SSD migration. Some cannot.Robs recommendation: Get it. No question. If you have the experience to install a bare drive (not hard) then do that. If not then get the additional kit.

Drive works great on windows 8.1 system - great price vs performance
I am very happy with the crucial drive purchase. It is working great. I compared several SSD drive specs and reviews before purchasing the crucial drive. I narrowed it down to the crucial SSD and the samsung 840 evo SSD as they both had a great price vs performance rating. I chose the crucial drive over the samsung because it had a faster read speed (samsung had a faster write speed) and because I was concerned about the shorter life expectancy of the samsung 840 evo SSD triple NAND technology. The other primary SSD drives use double NAND technology and even the samsung site co rims their triple NAND technology has a short life. The longer life samsung evo pro uses double NAND technology to get the longer life expectancy. Crucial uses double NAND technology and does not use all the extra compression algorithms samsung does to get their performance at the expense of life for their drive. I have the samsung evo drive on one of my other computers and it has been working great. This drive purchase was for my primary home computer so I felt the longer life was worth the extra few dollars and most of what my drive will do is read and not write so the better read performance of the crucial drive was in line with that. That being said:Pros: works fast for windows 8 including streaming videos, editing photos, VPN access, ms office, and browsing the internet. Runs cool. It's like I have a new computer. Double NAND longer life technology.Cons: no migration software. The samsung evo 840 I purchased for the other computer came with migration software that successfully moved a windows 7 installation from a standard hard drive to the SSD. I did not need to reload anything. I don't know if it will do this for windows 8. The crucial did not come with migration software and I tried to clone my computer from the standard drive to the SSD. I tried three different cloning applications and all failed to do it. The cloned drive said it coned correctly but would not boot. I ended up reloading it from scratch which because of the speed of the drive was actually pretty fast. It would have saved me a bunch of time to just have started reloading it instead of cloning it. To be fair I don't know if the samsung evo migration software would have worked on windows 8, but it worked so nice on windows 7.

Affordable and Fast
A great SSD upgrade if you come from a HDD. Significant performance benefits were achieved on my notebook PC, but wish this SSD was more on par with the top competitors. I'm glad Crucial added software support for this SSD (Crucial Executive) to match Samsung's Magician Software. I would recommend this SSD for anyone looking for a budget upgrade from a HDD.

This is an awesome SSD.
The M550, and the Samsung EVO are the best bang for the buck drives right now. I upgraded to the M550 256GB from older Crucial M4 128GB SSD. The M550 has much faster write speeds. You will be totally blown away by the performance of this drive. I highly recommend this puppy.

Perfecto
