Great product for the price
The product arrived quickly and I installed it relatively easily. This is a three man job since it is very large and it's very difficult to measure distances up in the air for point to point placement unless you have a laser level with distance measuring. For the price, it was a very good product. I live in New Mexico and we have UNHOLY winds here. It's surviving the Spring winds and it's providing a little too much shade for my front courtyard. Works as intended. I purchased my own hardware at Lowe's and home depot, it's not heavy at all so you don't need very substantial hardware to secure it. Even if this lasts one season, it was a good investment and I would not hesitate to recommend it. It looks kind of cool too. If you have questions you can email me at [email protected] in New MexicoUpdate- I have now had this product for over 90 days and it's withstood gale force winds here in New Mexico. Our Spring winds are really bad and this product continues to provide shade. If you provide enough slack in the material it has plenty of room to ripple in the wind. Don't secure it too tightly because it will add to much sheer and stress to the material in high winds. Attach it with plenty of sag and slack so it has the extra room to "flap in the wind". If it's too tight it will probably tear. It does not have to be "drum tight", it looks nice with a little slack in it. The shade it provides is WONDERFUL and therefore I now use my outside area more frequently and with more enjoyment! For the $, I highly recommend this product!

Thought about returning...glad I didn't
We're sprucing up our deck this year and invested in a deep seating set that was going to need some shading to make it comfortable. We generally don't care for umbrellas (too ordinary, too potentially unstable in strong winds). My hubby runs a sailing school, so the sail shades seemed like a creative nod to the nautical while being functional. My only reason for thinking about a return was b/c my husband gets to busy with his boats, I didn't want to bog him down with another project. He insisted he could do it, and had one installed (we bought 2) in about 20 minutes. He's a crafty fellow, so he "McGyver'ed" it using some thin but strong boat line and a few sailor's knots! Once both were installed, we were very amazed and pleased with the look. Very refreshing and unique...makes us feel like we're someplace tropical. Does an outstanding job of blocking the sun's strongest rays, without making you feel like you're in a closet (that's how we feel about umbrellas)The last few days have been pretty rainy and windy, and the shades have held up very nicely. Yes, the rain goes right through, but the description/function is to block the sun not the rain. And yes they will droop a bit after lots of rain, but that's not a major concern for us...we still think they look and work great. Plus I think the fact that there is some slack probably helps it stand up to the wind better, rather than something pulled too taut waiting to rip or tear. It's our first season with them but so far we LOVE them!

Sun sails
We purchased these to see how they would hold up in the open and in the weather where a typical canopy will not, our rear patio was a perfect example of where a canopy (tent like) would not last through a thunderstorm or high winds ( we have a 5 acre field behind us to the west ) so we get some good gusts and none of the canopies ever withstood any of that for long. I have to give these props, although I spent just as much on the hardware to hang them as the sails were to purchase they have held out great, water does penetrate the fabric so items on the deck do get wet but the alternative would be a hug pond of water in the sail if it did not leak through. They have gone thru sun, wind and rain and they have been up near two months now and look great, everybody that sees them asks "where can I get those" We have two 16 foot triangles primarly over a 12x13 patio, one over the top of the other with a 18 inch gap in between, it`s a very artsy look and keeps the sun off the patio plus I don`t have to run out into a lighting storm to try and tie down or dis assemble them to avoid disaster! Happy customer, shipping was fast and free!

Unexpectedly spectacular
We hung this over a large outdoor area, and while the coverage isn't a large as you'd imagine, it reduces the heat considerably. And I live in central Florida where the heat index is hitting 106 every day! It is so inexpensive, I was surprised at the quality of the d-rings and stitching. I want to buy another. The sand color is definitely more yellow that white, (wheat colored?), but I imagine the paler color is better for cooling. It's withstood a lot of wind and rain so far--I predict it will last at least a couple of years, which seems quite fair. Ours did not come with any rope. We used some nylon rope, which is working very well. Do try to find three points to tie off to that create a rough triangle--otherwise, it gets a bit flappy.
