Performed Great During the Great Iowa Derecho
I can highly recommend the Generac iq2000! I have two of them, that I purchased to run in tandem to power the RV. Earlier this month, my town was hit (hard) by a derecho. (I had never heard of one of these either). 100 mph straight line winds that lasted for about 40 minutes took many, many trees down and knocked out power to hundreds of thousands of people for extended periods of time. As I write this, we have been without power for 6 days and the iQ2000 has performed flawlessly. One was in use at my house and one at my son's. I never had to pull the cord more than once to get it to start. They are quiet, reliable, easy to maintain, and an all around good generator. When I purchase these I compared the iq2000 to the Honda comparable sized 2000w model. I went with these because they were just as quiet and about two-thirds of the price of a Honda. Now, let's see if I jinxed myself by writing this before the power comes back on. LOL.😉UPDATE (The very next day): Text-book jinxing! This morning after a few hours of down time for oil-check, the pull string broke during the scheduled re-start. 🙁. Does this change my recommendation of the generator? Not at all. Pull-strings break, it happens. Luckily, my son got power back last evening and I went and picked up the sister unit. It's now providing power in place of the stringless one.UPDATE 8-29-20 We were without power for 8 days. The following week, I decided to tackle the broken pull-cord. I was disappointed that there is NOT ONE video on YouTube showing the steps to disassemble the iQ2000 enough to get at the starter mechanism. Luckily it wasn't too difficult to figure out. I repaired the pull-cord. Only about 4 inches had broken off so I was able to use the remaining cord, which was still wound correctly in the mechanism. Re-assembled, changed oil and verified it runs just fine.If you are considering purchasing a generator, I HIGHLY recommend this generator!

It worked great! Wasn't as powerful as the Honda but I ...
I bought this model trying to save a couple hundred compared to the Honda version. Started using the generator on my property to power lights, tv and swamp cooler. It worked great! Wasn't as powerful as the Honda but I really liked the gauges and controls. Changed the oil as recommended or more then recommended. At 100 hours the screws that hold the covers on became loose so i tightened them. In doing so the heads of the screws stripped and I replaced with others I had. At 135 hours I was using the generator and it stalled. I tried restarting but was very difficult to pull the pullstart. After trying to take it to several repair shops getting turned down I pulled it apart myself. My conclusion is the valves are shot and the motor is basically seized. My Honda generators prob have over 2000 hours no problems. I would not recommend buying this generator! Forgot to mention the pull start cable came loose and had to reinstall during the 135 hours it ran. It now sits in my storage container as a reminder not to go cheap!!!

The right generator for me
I got this generator a few years ago, and it has been very reliable. I start it every 6 months or so and it is dead simple to start and operate. (Remember to set the switch on the gas cap to "on" when running the generator, and to "off" when the generator is not in use or storage). I am an old guy, but it still starts when I pull the cord within 3 tries. It takes some effort to pick up and move around, but I can manage (6ft/200lbs). It only has one carry handle, and most of the time a single person should be enough to move it around. It does not have wheels built-in. The sound is quite manageable and youtube videos show it comparing very favorably against the Honda (at about twice the price). The generator is for outside use only since the exhaust has no provision for being extended by a pipe going outside. The generator has been tested on one of my refrigerators and it easily powered the refrigerator, and can probably add a couple other smaller loads at the same time. It has four outlets and a very nice gauge that estimates how long the generator will run with the loads attached to it. That gauges are the big selling point for me vs the Honda. It would be nice to have a manual gauge on the cap of the fuel tank to show gas level, but the electronic gauge makes up for it when the generator is running. The generator is delivered with no oil in it, so be absolutely sure to follow the initial setup instructions before starting it. Remember to only put enough gas in the tank to run the generator as long as you need it. Ideally, you will put it away after it has run out of fuel. If you are leaving fuel in the gas tank for the future, be sure to add some additive like Sta-bil to delay the breakdown of the gasoline over time. Once gasoline deteriorates into a gelatin, it clogs up everything and requires a deep cleaning including the carburator.

just as good if not better than Honda 2000 and half the price.
I've had two Honda 2000 generators and they both worked fine for a very long time. I was getting ready to upgrade to the new Honda 2200W generator, but as of this date they are all back ordered indefinitely. I've been told the back order was related to a recall for gas leaks (unconfirmed from Honda), but in any event I needed a new generator so I ordered the Generac 2000. Got it today and it I'm glad I ended up with the Generac. The Honda was going to be $1100 with a 3 year standard warranty and for $649 delivered I got the Generac 2000 with a 3 + 2 extended year warranty. It started on the very first pull, and it seems just as quiet and well built as the Honda and actually feels a bit lighter. The Generac has a bunch of features the Honda 2000 did not have (gas gauge, power level meter, etc) but I still have never seen a new Honda 2200 so I'm not sure what's on it. Not yet sure about the gas consumption on the Generac but I do know it will run my 9,200 BTU RV air conditioner which was my main concern (the Honda will not run the 13,500 BTU A/C units that they have started putting on even small RV's). Over all, it seems like the Generac 2000 is the best buy by far.
