I got this to test the breaking strength of my fishing knots. It does a great job! I was worried that the shock of the line abruptly snapping at +50 lbs might damage the internals, but I used it on 25 different pulls and there were no problems.The scale is much smaller than I expected. My only complaint is that I wish the handle was a little larger. I can barely fit 3 fingers in it.

After reviewing several scale choices online we picked the American Weigh Scales H-110 Digital Hanging Scale for its max weight and low cost. When we received it we were pleasantly surprised how well it was made. Read on for our evaluation.-- NOT INTUITIVE TO SETUP: Its not intuitive to setup but if you read the instructions you can set it up how you want and it is intuitive to use. Just hang the item and read the weight.-- NICE STABILIZATION MODE: For our use we set it up to provide a final weight after it stabilizes......this might take 2-3 seconds of letting the item hang on the hook. Once it stabilized the weight value freezes in the display. So if you were holding the scale awkwardly and could see it, this mode allows you to measure then set the item down, turn the scale and read the weight. When the weight is removed the weight remains in the display for about 5 seconds and it resets ready to weigh again without having to press any buttons to reset. This is a nice configuration when have to frequently measure weight.-- RUGGEDLY BUILT: Its ruggedly built and strong. We easily hung 40lbs from the scale with no hint of it stressing any attachment point. The handle, hook and body are made from steel. The handle and the hook are stainless steel. Its no surprise its rated for 110lbs.-- SEVERAL MEASUREMENT MODES OFFERED: There are other modes of measurement, but we only evaluated the stabilized weight mode.-- COMES WITH BATTERIES: The unit does require 2 CR2032 batteries and a nice touch is they are supplied with the scale..-- HAS A TAPE MEASURE: there is a built in tape measure which makes this more versatile to use for fishing.-- NICE HANDLE: We really like the steel handle and it has a very wide mouth making it easy to slide a 1" pole through to hang it while making measurements.-- ACCURATE: We placed a known 10lb weight on it and it measured accurately to within fractions of an ounce.

Ordered my AWS digital hanging scale after seeing the price of scales in the sporting goods stores and thinking I'd find a better deal with Amazon and low and behold here it is. Received the unit quickly thanks to Amazon Prime and like other reviewers I and very fond of the very seemingly tough metal construction of the unit.When I went to turn it on for the first time I got no sign of life... I figured it was bad batteries. Luckily I had some more 2032s lying around (bought cheap on Amazon), and threw those in, still nothing. Grabbed the multimeter and checked the batteries, both sets were good (and in fact the ones that came with the unit were 3v while the others where only 2.7v.) So I took off the back cover to determine if the unit was getting power, and low and behold the negative wire had been severed by one of the case retaining bolts when it was assembled. Stripped the wire, soldered it back in place, and it came to life. Tested the unit's accuracy by hanging a 2.5lb weight on the hook only to find it read 2.68 lbs... Disapointed, I took the weight to my digital kitchen scale to see if the error was with the weight or the scale and guess what? kitchen scale (bought on Amazon OXO Good Grips Stainless Food Scale with Pull-Out Display) said 2lb 10 and 5/8 oz which is 2.66 lbs, so it looks like I've been lifting more than I thought!Something to note, the batteries go in negative side up, not down like most, and the case does nothing to tell you this. Only found out when I took the unit apart to fix the severed wire. Also the instructions don't mention anything about the hold function which allows you to freeze the current weight displayed for a few seconds, it will also flash a minus sign if the weight moves to something less than the displayed weight, but not a plus sign if it becomes more (why?), and after a few seconds (3-4) it returns to displaying the current weight. I think a max weight hold/recall would be a much more useful feature.Overall impressed with the construction (minus the small fix, hence 4 stars) and accuracy for the price, and I'm very glad a didn't return it to Amazon. Now if only it was made in the US...

I purchased this product in 2012, 2022, and again in 2024. I use this in my barn to weigh hay (in a hay net) twice a day. This is a great scale. It is accurate and I am happy with the battery life. I hang the scale from a post with a trailer tie.Just a warning for those purchasing the product, the new model has different “modes”. I had trouble finding the explanation in the on-line manuals but I hit the mode button on the right until the scale did what I wanted. Someone stringing a bow wants the maximum force on the scale. I wanted the “current” weight.

I weight horse feed daily at the direction of my vet. I weight feed up to 25 pounds and have found this scale to be very valuable and durable. The metal housing is inflexible which makes it fast to scale and be done. The scale requires two 2032 button batteries to operate which I replaced after 2 months of use. This scale was not the cheapest on Amazon and have found it to be of quality materials, which I feel justify the higher cost over cheaper plastic scales. It is light and I can easily carry it in a jean pocket. Very surprised and pleased.
