Works great, PnP no calibration needed
Great little box, does exactly what it advertises. I'm using it in my IS300 with a JDM altezza cluster to convert the 6cyl signal to a 4cyl signal. Before I installed this dakota box the RPMs would read high. Plug and play, I didn't have to manually calibrate it at all. This newer version with a screen is much easier and user friendly compared to the older versions with DIP switches. Highly recommend.

Worked just great converting the PIP signal from a Ford TFI distributor ...
Worked just great converting the PIP signal from a Ford TFI distributor module (in a Ford 5.0 HO with EEC-IV ecu, but that doesn't matter much because I took the signal straight off the PIP terminal of the TFI module) to a BMW E36 in-dash tachometer. Calibrated the conversion factor to 12, and I was good to go. Easy to wire up; just needed switched 12V power, ground, the PIP for input, and the tach for output.

Does not work as expected
I fitted a 5.3L Chevy Vortec into a 1992 Land Cruiser. Dakota advised that their SGI-8E would sort out my Tacho issues. I bought it through Amazon as I needed it delivered to South Africa. To Cut a long story short, the unit does not work and Dakota just say that it is a misunderstanding on their part. Therefore beware of purchasing this product. Make double sure it will work especially if you are not in the US, otherwise you will be left out of pocket.

Hi tech, high quality product...
I have a 1994 Bronco with a 1994 12V Cummins installed. I was able to use my in dash factory tach with this product using a signal from my alternator and it works perfectly. Very happy customer!!

Fast Shipping
Will not be able to install into my 1975 Datsun Pickup Truck, which has a Chevy 350 in it until Spring. Will rate accuracy, ease to install and hopefully not tech support at that time as I hope everything will go ok.

Worked like a charm!!
Purchased an s2000 cluster (4 cylinder) into my V6 engine and it read 1000rpm higher than it should. Purchased this awesome device and now it idles as it should at 800rpm! Life saver!

Disappointing.
I do have some criticisms of this item.First, configuration requires that ignition key is turned while a button on the device is held down. On some cars or with some harnesses this becomes a two-person job. Some people have an assistant available at their beck and call for tasks like this. I don't. I had to come up with a Rube Goldberg method to do it OR figure out a way to be in two spatially separate locations at once, a physical impossibility.Second, this new version does not utilize dip switches for configurations, it utilizes two buttons that must be pressed in correct sequence. Either the instructions were written for a different device or the person who wrote the instructions did not test them out or something else because the instructions are WRONG! and you can't get anywhere following them. You have to figure out how to do it disregarding what the instructions tell you to do or you will never get it done.I don't know anything yet about the function of the device but if my initial experience with configuration is any presage of things to come, I am not expecting much.

I'm sure it's good quality if compatible with your setup
Was not compatible with a 89-90 Nissan 240SX SOHC tachometer. Tried all the possible settings. I'm sure it's good quality if compatible with your setup, I also have the speedometer converter, it's great.
