These do help keep my birds nails shorter. But can cause irritation on their foot.. A good addition if you just put on one of the perches.

Not what I ordered. Used to be coated with crushed shells. My parakeet was crazy for them. Couldn’t even get the perches back in the cage before she jumped on them and started chewing on them. These only have sand, which is ok, but my bird is not as happy with them.are

I bought these perch covers to help file down my parakeets nails so they wouldn't have to be trimmed. They work good and fit well. I had bought them from Amazon because my pet store was out of them. My only criticism is that they are a little over price. I can get them $3 cheaper in the store when available.

My parakeets like them, but they fall apart within a couple weeks as the birds chew on them. They are a bit narrow and hard to apply to perch, plus too short in length as well!

The item is not as described at all. No seashells of any kind. Not even the tiniest crushed piece. Also, the sand isn't sticking to it at all. Not sure if we got an old batch or not, but so much sand is loose in the package, we won't even open it as it will be a complete mess! We have purchased many sand perch covers, and they are more like sandpaper. This is like someone sprinkled a bunch of sand on it hoping it would stick to lightly sprayed glue paper. Horrible! Definitely do not recommend! Not sure if we should go through the trouble of returning or not. Still have time to decide. If we don't it's just going in the trash, so I guess it would be better to get our money back, than literally throw it away. Save your money! There's far better out there!

These are just what I need to keep my budgerigars toenails under control. Please keep in mind any kind of rough perch can cause foot problems like abrasions if not used wisely. I use these only on 1/10th of the available perches for my birds and I only use them on the underside of the perches. The softer upper parts of their feet never touch the rough surfaces, just the toenail portion makes contact. My birds always have the option of choosing different sized and shaped limbs to perch on. Careful application and monitoring of the feet makes these work the way I need them to.

When I ordered this, I think I got it by the next day. The sand-perch was a little hard to open to put on the perch, but I managed and got it to go on. Works as expected.
