Not for the extreme work
Going to start of with these boots are good, they are comfortable and the rubber front has held up to some vigorous work. The bad are the soles wear quick and the zippers are weak. If you do not work in the elements this might work for you but I'm a gas pipe fitter work in the mud, rain, high heat, lots of walking in tough terrain these boots didn't last a year which is what I expect most boots to last they soles wore out about 2 months ago the zippers both broke about a month ago. I'm get a yearly boot allowance so I'm waiting to get rid of them but might have to bite the bullet and buy something for the time being. But they were comfy for about 6 months but I'm brutal on boots cause of my work

Don't waste the money if you want some thing that will last.
You would think for the price of these that they would be pretty decent boots but no they don't last for some one on there feet alot. I have been a mechanic and worked in factory's all my life so I'm always on my feet on cement and these were to replace my doc Martin's that finally wore out after three years of hard work and these haven't even made it a year yet and the bottoms are wearing down flat and the bottoms seem to be made of 2 layers laminated together and are starting to separate. The tops and leather are very sturdy but if you where them every day on concrete then don't waste the money.

and these boots are the most comfortable I've found
I have tried everything from Redwing to ariat and justin, and these boots are the most comfortable I've found. I bought the slip on wellington boots just like this first, but the inner lining ripped on my heel while taking the boot off within 2 months of having the boots. I loved those boots so much, I decided to try these which are the same boot except they have the side zip. This allows the boot to be taken off easily without causing damage to the inner heel lining. I love these boots.

Fit as expected and hold up well
This is the 3rd pair of these boots I've owned. I like the way they fit. They are a bit on the heavy side but not too bad. I spend a lot of time walking in mud and these tend to hold up for about 1-1.5 years on average.

Mink oil them
UPDATE—2-26-19Boots have broke in to be comfortable except the composit toe it’s quite rough on the side of my big toes and cause blisters. Originally seemed to be quite water resistant but now get wet within minutes of being exposed to moisture or snow. These do NOT have a steel shank in them or anything for stepping on a shovel. Something I do often and wouldn’t have bought if I knew this. All in all probably a great boot for someone who does medium to light indoor laybor. Not aGreat boot for Michigan outdoor conditions or hard laybor. Also after they’ve gotten wet they stink and getting the smell out has been a chore.

how they fit
they fit well.have worn them only twice have no complaints.I am sales rep and the company I call on require steel toe shoes. I am allow to walk through the plant, but they require steel toe shoes. Had pair of low quarters and wanted a boot. Have pair of lace up shoes but wanted to try a boot.I have no complaint on them.So far, I am very pleased.

Big, thick nice leather work boot, side zip is convenient.
Really likes the soft toe version of these better, but it appears they only make it with composite toe now. Trying composite toe, runs a half size big, easy exchange, was bulky boot now it’s really wide & bulky taking a bit to get used to, composite toe makes it a bit heavier work book then soft toe. Was hoping it was comparable to soft toe version in fit & weight. That is not the case. May have to find anew brand of boot. Really liked the ease of side zip. As truck driver of ag products, having an easy on & off boot for quick change from driving to unloading footwear is essential these are too bulky for limited space available in the semi cab.

I do not think this is an insulated boot
I bought this boot to be a outdoor work boot for the fall and winter. It is listed as an insulated boot. It does not seem insulated at all. So I checked the Thorogood website and they are not listed as an insulated boot. Also, I bought these as a warehouse item but they came with no insoles. They were not listed as missing any parts. I would guess they were not inspected prior to being sent back out. That would not be a deal breaker except insoles on the Thorogood site are like 30 bucks. They do run a little small. I do not know their level of water proof ability. I have already worn them so I am not going to return them but it was overall a disappointing transaction.

Four Stars
Can not slip on like I expected. It requires a shoe horn to get my foot into the boot.
