How should we deal with algae growing in the glass jar? I've noticed its started growing and cant find anything online on how to treat it

Hello! In order to prevent algae, be sure not to overwater. Let the top 2" of soil fully dry out before watering again. Sprinkling some cinnamon can help with algae on top of the soil. Also, algae likes the sunlight. But of course, so does your plant, so you don’t want to move it into the shade. Try wrapping the jar in something to prevent sunlight from reaching the soil & algae, while letting the plant continue to soak in that glorious sun.

is the jar always supposed to look flooded? Been a month and nothing has sprouted.

Mine has never looked flooded. My plant didn't sprout until I moved to seeds a bit I believe I dug a little too far, you might want to check if your self-watering sprout thing is broken.
