52 morsels of advise in easy to swallow chapters
I’ve been following Joanie for some time on YouTube and she has taught me so much about food photography. I highly recommend this book for beginners because it consolidates so much information out there and Joanie has a very simple way to explain it all. I also recommend this book for the intermediate photographers out there who want to keep little reminders about what to do in specific cases.

It helps you to start working with your camera.
This book not only helped me to take better pictures it taught me how to operate my camera without having to take a class.

This book is making me hungry…
…and isn’t that the point? To see photos that evoke a feeling that make you want to eat what you see? This book is fantastic—and I admit I am a hobbyist not a professional—covering gear, lighting, composition, props, and pretty much anything you’ll need to get some great shots of food. Joanie Simon has a friendly and supportive style, making me feel I like I *could* do this, and frankly, I can’t wait to start! Yum!

Beautifully written and gorgeous photos!
I have been reading this everyday and I love how I have been drawn into thinking and reflecting why I fell in love with food photography. Re-learning and learning new things with this book without being overly saturated with information! I love the little challenges she put into this book since I get an idea how to apply each topic in real life and how to get better at the craft. Also, there’s a high chance of getting hungry while reading this. I was reading this at 3am and all I can think about is wanting to eat the sandwich on the book.

A Must for All Food Photographers
Joanie is an incredible photographer and teacher. This book is everything I wish I had when I first began my food photography journey. Although Joanie focuses on artificial lights, this book is perfect for food photographers who either use natural light primarily or artificial lights. The book is packed with information that is easy to understand. There are also a lot of activities to practice the concepts. I highly recommend it and am already reading through it a second time and I'm sure there will be many more re-reads.
