Nice chrome tension rod for curtain
This looks nicer than in the picture. The title says black but I received a chrome one which looks very stylish. This rod is very easy to install and once in place it looks great. I've used it with a medium weight linen curtain and it does hold it perfectly. As you can install this without making any hole, I think this is perfect for those who rent.

Just the job
Very strong rod, looks good with any colour scheme in any room being silver. Held my drape up perfectly and strong enough so my cats can't pull it down.

Pole position.
I'm not the greatest at DIY and I've had a few messy moments involving putting up curtain poles. So if the window isn't very big, I've always opted for tension rods as they are such much easier. This tension rod works in the same way as the others I've had, twist and get into the desired length (leave it slightly longer) and then use brute force to wedge into place - sorted! This is a very high quality tension rod, one of the best I've ever seen and far better than plastic or poor quality metal alternatives. This is strong and therefore doesn't bow (essentially as any bowing will break the tension and it'll clatter down). I have tried both a very light and a heavier curtain on this and both were absolutely fine. The finish is nice, the metallic look is quite subtle and should go with any decor, the change in size between the larger out pole and the narrower inner pole isn't as obvious as some I've used.In a nutshell: This is a fantastic item which would get 5 stars from me if it weren't for the fact that it is probably over twice the price (£70 at the time of writing this!) that I would expect to pay.

Over priced but does its job
Functionally, this does what its meant to do; you unscrew to just over the length you need, slide on the tab-top curtain/s of your choice, then compress it into the space you want to put it. The internal spring then pushes out to hold the pole in place.Rubber ends on the finials prevent marking or damage to the surface you mount it. I only used it to hang a voile curtain, which of course weighs practically nothing, but once put in place properly it does feel stable enough to take a heavier fabric: in fact I now use it as a coat rack (I put some clip rings on, and the coats are held by those) and it happily houses 6 large coats, including a bulky winter coat, 3/4 length pea coat and two leather jackets without budging.Aesthetically, it has a nice, high quality finish. The pole is decent chrome like metal rather than coated cheap metal or plastic - and has a brushed finish, so has a soft sheen and holds up to fingerprints well. However; its an extremely simple pole, and doesnt really have anything about it to put it above the similar products you can buy for as little as £10-£15 if you want a metal one!Additionally, the join where the inner pole extends from is very visible. Not so much a problem if you arrange the curtain tabs in a certain way, if the curtain is large and so tabs sit in close proximity, or if you use it for a solid tube-topped curtain - but in the case of the latter two, you wont see the pole at all and so may as well go for one of the cheaper ones. All in all, in fairness it is a good looking, quality product; and honestly I would consider buying more - but £30 for what is effectively a pretty small pole is possibly a bit too much to pay.EDIT NOTE:When I originally reviewed this, it was 70 quid which was ludicrous. Now it's at 30, I've updated my review to be fair, and 30 is a much more appropriate price - but still maybe a LITTLE steep compared to the options available.

Good weight to it
Attractive tension rod to hold a curtain or similar. Good weight to it, and a simple mechanism to fit into the space. Looks good! Very pleased.

The inner box measures around 5 cm square x 66 cm length and opens lengthwise. This rod is chunky and I was a little worried that it might not fit through the top of my current favourite cafe style curtains but it was easy to do by taking the end off. The multi-lingual, step-by-step instructions suggest adding drapery rings (not supplied).Following the instructions, it works like any other tension rod but it is more rigid in situ with no feeling that it is likely to fall off (scaring everyone witless as I have had happen with cheaper plastic ones in the past, albeit on larger windows)!I couldn’t use it on one of my windows because of the style of window frame vent and it is worth noting that the diameter of each end piece is around 3 cm, which is a good bit larger than my old one. There are soft plastic-type, ringed, integral discs on each end piece to aid the mounting without damaging the decor, in my experience. The rod was acquired to finish off my cloakroom window, the recess of which is 59 cm wide, and I am pleased with the look so much that I am now thinking about a longer one for my patio door, in the rather smart sounding Auburn Bronze.
