Flipsky Upgrade 6354 190KV with Glues Poured Brushless Motor for DIY Electric Skateboard ESK8 Ebike with 10mm D Shape 15T Pulley

Used two of these motors for my electric skateboard build and I’m pretty happy with them. They have a ton of torque, plenty of speed on 10s and are very quiet on the road. They feel pretty durable and reliable. Time will tell how long these motors end up lasting. But the amount of power these provide are unlike anything I’ve felt from a hub motor board.

Ordered 2, 6354 190kv motors for a esk8 project. One motor threw sparks immediately during motor detection. Eventually got through motor detection but motor throws sparks and creates arcs on trucks whenever throttle is applied.Tested continuity and found that through one of the bolt holes, a small amount of insulation was exposed. Put one end in the hole and found isolation fault with yellow phase wire.Took the bell housing off and found that the motor bracket allowed one screw to pass far enough to hit the yellow phase wire directly under it. Personally I think this is a design flaw that opens customers up to immediate failure if they do not know the exact tolerances of the hardware.Ultimately I will own up for this as an inadvertent mistake on my part and not a direct fault with manufacturing or qc. I plan to try and repair them if possible and or order replacements if and when necessary. I will also need to wither shave the bolts down and/or use washers to achieve appropriate clearance.
