Will this work with standard 16 VAC door bell power?

A - The IP Doorbell unit itself requires 12VDC (power adapter included) for operation. The existing bell wires of your doorbell allow you two options:1) You can connect these wires to the 'Bell' wire connections of the IP Doorbell so that your existing chime will ring in conjunction with the IP Doorbell. or...2) You can trace the existing wires of your doorbell and use them as an extension of the power lead cable of the supplied power adapter. This would allow you to locate the power adapter further away from the IP Doorbell. You could cut and splice the adapter wire, just be sure to maintain the correct polarity of the two wires.

Is the intercom unit weatherproof? I want to put it on the exterior gate in California. Is it designed for this?
