Yes you can wash them but I DO NOT dry in the dryer. I just hang over coat hangers until dried this saves the vel cro.

Long stretch (over dbl length when stretched?) Or short stretch? Less than double?

These are short stretch as they are not double the length. However I use them as compression aids and they work for me very well for that.

Which is the length of the tape?

It is not tape but an elastic bandage with velcro on both ends that works very well and can be used over and over. It will stretch out 5 yards.
