Easy to Use, Works Great
The media could not be loaded. I'd purchased some Expanded Polystyrene (eps) foam from Silverlake on Amazon for a craft project. Bought this tool kit so I could cut and shape it. Couldn't be happier with this purchase. The foam came with a little loose shrink wrap around it, so it was kinda smashed (I have a separate review for that, this is just words to the wise if you buy foam online). The various heads on this tool heated quickly - like within:15 seconds it was hot enough to work. There's no temperature control - it's just on or off. But that seems to be the industry standard- particularly for an inexpensive tools such as this.I've never used one of these before I can see where it can take a little getting used to. The wire head seem to make very smooth cuts whereas the metal heads sort of just melted everything and left a more textured surface. (see picture I uploaded for examples). All the heads worked well. I just need to learn a little finesse- they are hot and the EPS foam melts fast!I'm not advocating for this, but I was in a bit of a hurry so I swapped heads frequently. Once I powered off the wand it seemed to cool as quickly as it had heated. Granted, I DID NOT touch any of the metal heated bits, only the base of each head to change them out. So I was able to work pretty seamlessly by just switching unit off giving it :15 seconds to cool and swapping the heads out. Again this may not work for you... use common sense and don't burn yourself. Also, I wore a respirator while doing this in a very well ventilated area, so I don't know how much it smelled- but be mindful of those brain cells! One side note for beginners here: the thick metal heads melted EPS so quickly that I ended up sort of caramelizing or burning a few spots. Not a big deal I could kind of scrape them off and they were just a light brownish color. The tool seems well made and sturdy enough. I don't plan on using this often, so anticipate it should last a good long time.Overall, this was a fantastic purchase that works very well 👍

Works great!
Exactly what I was looking for to cut my styrofoam halloween projects. Need a tad of practice for straighter type lines but doesnt take long at all to get the hang of it.

Worth it, cuts like cutting in butter, value for money.
I purchased this item after I was unsatisfied with the purchase from Michael’s which I was not able to return. It burnt my foam with cutting properly and they refused to take it back even if I was not satisfied with their product. This wire cutter is a must have tool if you are doing some precision cutting with your foam. Amazingly smooth to cut like cutting in a butter, no burnt marks in foam. No cleaning of wire as it does not keep any foam on it. Quickly heats up as soon as you switch it ON. I feel this is value for money as it has many attachments for your requirements. Even thought it looks pretty solid , I am not sure how long it will last for but so far so good and it’s not that expensive either.

Tombstones made easy
Why isn't this a 5 star review? Well, when they designed the power cable for this set, they decided that you wanted to be right up against a wall socket while you're working. WHY would you put a 3' power cable on a crafting tool like this? That is the kind of thing that just makes me mad. After I hooked this onto an extension cord, I was back to being happy. The unit is light weight and easy to work with. The heads are simple to change out while seating firmly in place when in use. All of the heads heat up fast and cut through even dense foam without any fuss. For the Halloween decorations, I'm using 3" high density moisture insulating foam, and this heat knife has made a huge difference (not to mention that I'm not making foam "snow" with a saw or knife).Great value and, thus far, great performance. I definitely recommend.

Great tool for starters
Haven't had the chance to use it much, but heat is great for cutting Styrofoam. I like the price for such a hardy tool. Fits good in my hand and makes accurate cuts.

Melts through styrofoam with no pieces that cling to you
These tools heat up quickly and cut through styrofoam well. Definitely use in a well ventilated area. Like anything, if you are using this tool to make something, it does require practice to get good at it. I bought this to cut out my daughter's name from styrofoam letters for a sweet 16 candelabra. With more practice, my letters would've come out better, but not bad. That said, I decided to make print letters. Script letters, all connected is something you probably won't pull off without practice. This tool will definitely be useful next time I have a huge piece of styrofoam to throw out. This tool will break the styrofoam down quickly, with no little pieces clinging to you.

Does not last!
The medium size straight attachment, no longer heats up. It stopped working after the 2nd use. The other are good.I would not buy it again.
