How to use a wireless button and power the chime from AC power.
If the AC supply is connected with the diode in series, the wireless button can be programmed to work with this chime. However, the 3 "C" cell batteries should power this chime for many years.

Didn't work
Had master electrician try to install for us. Never did get it to work. Wasn't any problem with returning it though, but I really would have preferred it to work.

Can be loud if necessary
Odd selection of tones for the bell (i.e. Happy Birthday, Star Spangled Banner, Beethoven's Ninth, etc.); also very tinny. However, volume can be adjusted to be loud enough to hear in the basement at the back of the house.

It works with my Nest video doorbell!!! HURRAY!!
HURRAY!!! IT WORKS WITH MY NEST HELLO VIDEO DOORBELL!!! It actually installed quite easily. I hard-wired mine myself. But then...came the DIODE!!! Don't even waste your time!! I wasted a lot of time with the diode! I spent at least an hour or more fiddling with settings and re-wiring, installing and re-installing the diode according to their directions, facing the diode in every direction possible...and COULD NOT GET IT TO WORK properly! With the diode in, the doorbell went off erratically and sometimes not at all when pushed. Then the chime rang incessantly without stopping over and over til my husband and kids thought they would lose their minds. The chime also seems to play every chime twice, which is a little odd. I finally just removed the diode, and it worked as designed...EXCEPT it short-played the song and cut it off early during the repeat. THEN THE MAGIC HAPPENED!!! I found a setting in the Nest Hello app for the doorbell that allows you to control the exact "duration" of your electronic chime!! THAT FIXED EVERYTHING!! It is the app itself that is cutting off the song early. The max setting in the Nest Hello app currently is 10 seconds long, which is NOT long enough to let it repeat its chime twice like it likes to. I'm wondering if it is repeating just to fill the 10 second time?? I simply timed the tune I wanted and set the chime duration in the app to match--and magically IT WORKS PERFECTLY!! I change the duration every time I change my tune, and now I don't have to listen to it repeat itself either because I cut it off after one go through. Hope this helps!!! To find the setting in the Nest App: Hit "settings" button at the top of the home screen where you select and view your doorbell/Scroll to very bottom and Select your doorbell by name/Scroll down to "Device Options" section and click "Chime Duration"/Toggle to select electronic chime and move the slide to select your desired duration. (See image in review for view of the option screen) GOOD LUCK!! (I gave it 4 stars because it works well now and was initially easy to install if you skip the diode. Docked a star because the diode instructions were BEYOND HORRIBLE and the diode was dysfunctional even though the instructions make it seem mandatory to add, and the unit seems defective with it installed, which almost got me to return it and give up completely. All in all, it was a frustrating process with a great final outcome!!)
