It is not surge protected. It does have overcurrent protection and fuse plus it complies with all UK standards and regulations.

Can I plug an extension cable in to it

Hi I have an extension cable plugged in to the one I have . Make sure the plugs you use are fitted with the appropriate fuse for to load you apply. My extension only a low energy appliance so I fitted a 5 amp fuse . This 3way adapter is fitted with its own 13amp fuse . Plus if anything is a miss the trip on our consumer unit should activate. Hope this is of help .
