Exactly what I expected!!!
I have used this type of brush for the past forty years. I have several Craftsman 3637 horsehair bricklayer's brushes that have never been used and several that are worn out. I was concerned due to the content of the reviews but I decided to try one anyway. This is a great brush for general shop clean-up. Shavings from the jack plane - sawdust from the chop saw, table saw, and worm drive skil saw - shavings from the drill press and all the rest of "stuff" that gets on the work surfaces in an active shop. It gets most of the dust from the belt sander but some of what it leaves is too fine for any brush and that is why there are shop vacs. Comfortable wooden handle and doesn't shed hairs (all horsehair brushes shed some hair and about 1 in 10 will shed enough quickly to make the brush useless - so send it back!).It does a poor job on very fine dust like sanding dust from sanding the joints on sheetrock - this brush will get most of the dust but it will leave a very fine layer of white powder about like talc - so use your shop vac!My recommendation is that every active shop should have one or two of these handy just like we used to and for the same reasons - every shop is better when basically clean. This brush will not do the job of a tack rag in getting a surface ready for final varnish, lacquer, french polish shellac, or even paint so use a tack rag. You use the brush to get the main "stuff" - then the shop vac to get it clean and then a tack rag Premium Tack Cloths, Bond Crystal Brand 18" x 36" 12 Cloths Per Box to get the stuff that is too fine to see.

sweeps great
A worker at my home had one of these and I used it. Ordered my own. Works great at sweeping up dust and crumbs. Don't have to get out the vacuum so often! I think it's the partial horsehair that makes it sweep up the small stuff so great.

Horsehair Masonry Brush
Just as it say in the title! So far, so good. I haven’t lost too many hairs just yet and usually when that begins to happen I can apply a little super glue or gorilla glue down deep in the drill pits where it helps keep everything in tact. All is well here — great product for the price. Thanks!

So nice that I bought another one
This brush is great; I bought it for the garage because of the dust/sawdust/soil we generate. It was so great, I bought another one for the house. This horsehair brush is definitely worth the extra money, the synthetic brush bristles are too coarse and do not sweep up debris as easily and completely as this brush. I have had no problems with the bristles coming out, and the handle is smooth and easy for me to handle (my hands are small). I purchased this brush with a 16" H485 aluminum dust pan for the garage, a great set. In fact, this brush might be a great gift for a handy person who has just about everything.....
