- Lightweight, Comfortable, and Versatile Camping Chair!
I bought the Helinox Sunset Chair (Black, 3.4 lbs) to join my husband on camping trips, hiking excursions, and kayaking adventures, and it’s become my go-to chair for just about everything! My husband had an ultralight backpacking chair, but I wanted something with a high back to avoid squatting and to rest comfortably after a long day. This chair is perfect! At about 3 lbs, it’s not ideal for long backpacking hikes but is fantastic for day hikes, picnics, or casual outdoor outings. It packs up small, is easy to assemble and break down, and the sturdy material and frame feel built to last. The high back makes a huge difference for back support, and the side pockets are a nice touch for convenience. The quality is impressive, though it’s a bit pricey. If you take care of it, this chair will last for years. My husband loved it so much he claimed it, so I had to buy a second one for myself! Now all our friends are jealous of how comfortable and portable these chairs are. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a lightweight, high-quality outdoor chair!

I love this chair
I'm not going to lie; I love this chair. Let me preface this review by saying that, while I bought the sunset chair for its portability, I was under no illusion that I'd be taking it backpacking for a week in the wilderness or anything. While it does fit in a backpack, it's still too heavy to justify bringing along when ounces count. With that said, however, it's still worth the purchase. I bought it because, outside of a few weeklong backpacking trips every year, I also spend a lot of time at parks and beaches. I wanted something that was a little bigger than the chair one (purchased awhile ago; would highly recommend) but still relatively compact so it would leave more room in the trunk of my car for other beach/park stuff. So, on to the chair itself. It sets up much like the chair one does; assemble the frame and slip the fabric on. Takes about a minute to set up, from bag to sitting, and maybe a minute and a half to break down and pack up again. The chair is very sturdy but still very, very comfortable; I've said in other reviews that I'm a pretty big guy, so finding something I can properly relax in is a tall order. My only (admittedly minor) gripe is the lack of arm rests, but they had design choices to make and helinox is all about portability, so I suppose the armrests had to go. It's still a comfortable chair; I spent several hours in it for a small picnic and then (when all the barbecued food had taken effect) proceeded to nap in it for about an hour more. Never felt cramped or uncomfortable at any time. Now to answer the question of the hour: is it worth the ridiculous price? I would say that I'm very happy to have bought it, yes. Other people might be perfectly happy with a 14 dollar folding chair from a department store, and that's fine. I wanted something light and portable that wouldn't sacrifice comfort, so I bought this instead. It fits in a backpack and when you're sitting down in it you'll see exactly where your money went right before you take a nap, because it really is that comfortable. So this, like all the other helinox stuff I've bought, gets a hearty recommendation from me because in this case you really do get what you pay for, and it's a chair you'll own and enjoy for a long time.

WOW solid update to the original well worth it
OK I also own other Helinox chairs I did a review comparing the REI to the helinox chairhttp://www.amazon.com/Big-Agnes-Helinox-Chair-Camp/dp/B007ZGOWZQ/ref=sr_1_1?s=sporting-goods&ie=UTF8&qid=1426115083&sr=1the one HUGE problem is my kids tried them and chances are I now have to buy 2 more :)sarcasm off :)did buy a 2nd for the wifewe car camp but space and size are a huge concern for us I hated having 4 huge normal camp chairs also I love to rest my head my original post above I did show a quick pic of a mod I did to get a headrest that works on the original Helinox but this new design is so much better !!!!comparing to the original model you can see the pics comparing the two (sorry just quick cell phone pics)the legs are more solid and less flex (not that the original was unstable but it had some flex)the height is taller which does make getting out a touch easier and might put it closer to normal eating height but like the original its not as tall as a regular camp chair ! but they are superior IMHO for someone looking for a chair that wont take up a ton of room and are heavy and IMHO are actually more comfy than full size chairs !the backrest at 6' tall I can rest my head in comfort the blue pillow did not come with mine ? so a pillow design is in the works for me :)a bit wider seating area in the front the rear part feels about the samewhat has not changed !the poor size/design foot ends ? OK they need to offer a better foot design for soft ground the original I did a golf ball trick !I have seen the small tennis balls but they attract sand and water etc... so something solid is needed IMHOon the original I used golf balls which worked very wellquality stitching and better design in the corners etc... again just well made compared to other smaller camp chairs of this style I have seen on the marketincluded a few picsone to see how the height has changedthe other to try to show the wider part of the chairthe side view to try to show how substantial the backrest ispack size compared to the original with my golf ball foot mod on the original why the bag is lumpy on the original :)
