I purchased this to replace my old contigo travel mug and I wanted one that was smaller since I rarely would finish the full 16 oz of the last one. This immediately leaked out of the sides and the mouth piece. Eventually the sliding mouth piece just fell out and would not stay in and this was just after one week of use.

Hard to hold

Is excelent for drink (hot or ice)

The tumbler itself is good quality, solid overall and no notes, but the lid is terrible, we have a few of these and within days every single one had their sliding spill-proof part break or fall off. So they work ok for slightly limiting spills and being a durable cup, but for any sort of spill-proof/travel aspect, they just won't last, and I can't even seem to find replacement lids for these.

So I've used a variety of Contigo items before now. My experience is that their bottles while excellent at hear retention have so-so drinking systems (e.g., flip up lids, flip up straws, etc...). I've also used their blender bottle type bottles and Tritan drinking bottles.Here the lids are decent at sealing in the sides. The sliders leave a bit to be desired. Still, they didn't leak which is a plus in this product space. Dishwasher safe at this price is excellent too. I've seen plenty of these type cups at a cheaper price but there aren't dishwasher safe. Here you get that, but it will cost you.The one feature I've seen on similar cups is ad adhesive foam rubber ring on the bottom. I wish Contigo had added that. It's a great way to keep you heavier cup from scratching your table as well as staying in place. You can add it your self but without a good circle template it won't look as good. 20 cents (if that) of foam on their part and this would get me to give the cup another positive star in my review. So a 4 star item instead of 5. It's not a bad cup, but when I've seen others do it better I can't give 5 stars.

Dishwasher safe (both body and lid) 12 ounce insulated tumbler in a beautiful dark blue metallic color.The tumbler is about 4 1/2" tall, 3" wide at the top, and about 2 1/4" wide at the base. The base widens quickly so the shape is short and wide.I like to bring a cup of hot tea to my office as I work and there have been some real messes to clean up if I'm not very very careful. Large enough to hold a cup of tea with a snug lid to keep things under control, the tumbler has the added advantage of keeping the contents hot for up to 4 hours (cold drinks for up to 10 hours per the label) with no sweating or condensation to deal with.The lid fits so snugly that there are special instructions for when adding boiling hot water: "If filling with boiling liquid, allow liquid to cool down WITH THE LID OFF for at least 3 minutes before attaching the lid".Realized how important that was when I first tested the tumbler without reading the instruction sheet (don't judge me!) because the lid just didn't want to attach to the cup - the steamy water forced it upwards, even with the drinking spout open.After reading the instructions, I changed the way I use the cup - now I put some of the very hot water from the kettle into the cup (before the water actually boils) to warm up the tumbler. When the water comes to a boil I empty the tumbler and make the tea. After a few minutes I attach the lid and the tea stays very hot for a long time.The lid easily opens and closes for drinking via a slider that has some lines molded into it that give a good grip. Even though the instruction sheet states "Lid is not leak or spill proof" I haven't found that to be the case but guess if you put into a bag upside down there could be an issue.Perfect size, pretty color, and completely dishwasher safe. I am really happy with this tumbler!
