Not water proof on the upper material. Water resistant to a degree and also along the height of the sole and molding. so ok for shallow puddles but will wet out on the top material in rain etc. I think these are as much a hi-top sneaker as they are a 'walking boot' They are comfortable and i think they look good but if I was after water proof I would go for something with a water proof lining. You may like to consider Salomon or lowa (I have a pair of each brand) but those are more expensive. Or look for Columbia boots that are clearly advertised as 'waterproof' Hope that helps.

Is the Graphite/Sage a light gray/silver like in Amazon pic or more of a dark gray like in Zappos?

I can’t speak to the color as I did not get this color, but these were the most uncomfortable hiking shoes I have ever bought.
