Can this be used without using the fresh water flush portion?

I realize this is an older question, but to make it easier to move, we do not fill or use the fresh water section. We use a large water bottle with a squeeze spout. We even use it in our small camper that has a cassette toilet. It is much easier to aim it where we need it and ends up using less water, which means more time between dumping.

How do you know when the tank is full?

You can see down into the tank when you open to flush. If it is located in a dark area, such as a tent or boat head, you may need a flashlight, but it is easy to ascertain. You can also get an estimate just by how heavy it is if you just lift it a bit. The holding tank separates easily from the source tank, so is easy to remove and empty into a toilet.

What is the weight limit for this?

I don't see any specs on weight limits but just doing a google search on similarly made models, weights are from 330lbs to 440lbs. It's compact and sturdy. For someone of large size or older person, would definitely want to place it on a sturdy wood box/platform to make it easier getting up and down.
