It is easy to remove with a scraper with a stanley knife blade. Quick and easy, Acetone is nasty and makes a mess.

Would this product be recommended for our window that is right next to the shower

Well, you can still make out vague shapes etc from the other side, you might have to use 2 whole cans, even then you might see shapes of someone in the shower but not actual detail

Is this a good alternative to etching cream for a art piece?

This is for applying to glass to give it a frosted look for privacy. I do not know the effect it would have if sprayed on artwork.
