Works better than expected.
I purchased this to work in conjunction with a battery powered Ring solar floodlight, both of which are mounted to trees halfway down my driveway.I was worried that the sensor would not be able to serve my needs due to the distance of its placement from the bridge and also its being powered by only 3 AAA batteries. After more than a month of daily heavy use with all settings on the most power demanding option, I can report that the batteries (rechargeables) are reading 54%, the connection strength to the Ring bridge is "fair", and that the floodlight activates very quickly after motion is detected.Additionally, the senor detects motion of the type and distance that I would expect without giving me too many unnecessary alerts. Vehicles and people are detected at approximately 15 yards but it is not triggered by leaves falling etc. This product is highly recommended and may resolve any detection issues you may be having with another Ring product.I have included a screenshot from the satellite view of my property which is in a rural and heavily wooded area. The "o" denotes the location of the bridge with each "x" being the floodlight and sensor, the latter of which is farthest from the bridge.

Works flawlessly
Purchased this sensor to activate outdoor lighting using Alexa but was hesitant that it wouldn't work the way I was hoping. Man was I wrong. This was the ONLY outdoor motion sensor I could find that works with Alexa and has seamless integration with other smart devices (through Alexa). Connected outdoor lights to outdoor smart plug, installed Ring bridge (req'd even with Alexa) and Ring motion sensor, and added all those smart devices to Alexa and made a routine to power the smart plug when motion is detected. Even added a condition in Alexa to only perform the routine during nighttime hours and added a second routine to power off the smart plug after 1min of no motion detected. So not only will the motion sensor trigger the lights, but I can have Alexa turn them on and off via voice command.Gotta love these smart devices! Next up is to trigger a siren when someone walks up on my deck at night!

Not recommended. Updated
This sensor has been very disappointing. It is very unreliable and only picks up motion intermittently. Battery life is way shorter than expected. I would not recommend and am very sorry I purchased. After much fiddling I was able to greatly improve reliability by relocating and updating sensitivity level. After initial review, Ring CS was helpful, I assume battery life will probably still be an issue. Ring CS said that increasing sensitivity level may drain battery faster.

Updated review after good support
Updated review (original review below). I was contacted by an executive Ring support person. He was very helpful and explained that the original replacement wasn't ordered for some reason. The replacement arrived a few days later. It is working well.Original review:This thing only worked for around 6 months, and then stopped working completely. During that 6 months it gave false alerts constantly for motion of shadows from clouds and the sun. Then it completely died, no motion detection at all. Called Ring support and they said they would send a replacement. That was months ago and no replacement came.

Good sensor- impressed with how easy to set up & use
This sensor works good. It truly took care my blind spots, Battery life is really good, and looks good also. This is a 5 out of 5 for me. I highly recommend to other customers. Good stable product.👍🏽.

Dissappointed
As the headline states:I have tried 2 of these and they both did the same thing. They worked great and integrated well with Ring with an Echo for a bridge. Motion detention and features were outstanding for about the first 3 days. After that, they both constantly dis-connect Giving me an annoying notifications when they occasionally (a few timess a day) come online, then go offline again within about 2 or 3 minutes. It's easy to get them back online by removing the batteries. Not so easy if you have them mounted on wall and need to get a ladder out every time to re-set them. Based on my experience, I can't recommend these.Update Jan 2024: Ring contacted me and determined that this device doesn't seem to be stable with an Echo as a bridge. As a result, ring sent a ring bridge to me. I set the bridge up and the device is more stable, but has gone offline on it's own. The difference so far is that I haven't had to remove and reinsert the batteries to make it stay online for more than a few minutes once it starts acting up. If the device is able to stay online as reliably as the cameras, I will come back and add that in. I'm still disappointed that the device is advertised as working with my Amazon Echo when it clearly does not. I can't speak for the compatibility of other amazon bridge devices, only to the Echo (4th Gen) | With premium sound, smart home hub, and Alexa

Great customer service.
I had a problem with the motion sensor that I bought to replace one that stopped working. After replacing the battery it still didn’t work. After leaving bad review Ring contacted me to trouble shoot. After another battery replacement the issue was resolved. Very happy it is working and that customer service was excellent.

Very good outdoor motion detection for RIng/Alexa
This is a well-made accessory for Ring systems, but you can also use it by itself (or with Ring) on your Alexa system to control routines. Fairly inexpensive. Weather resistant. Integrates easily within Ring app but you need the Ring Bridge. Once you do that, it is available for any Alexa routine. You can initiate Alexa routines either upon detection of motion, or after the absence of motion for a period you can select. Nice that it has 3 AAA batteries -- easy to find. You could also use these indoors if you wish, but you must connect through the Ring Bridge. Alexa cannot use this without the Ring Bridge like you can with other Zigbee type motion sensors.
