A lightweight yet sturdy Pergola
Update: Someone asked a question whether Pergola cover can be open or not so thought to provide an update here. I live in Northern CA and this past winter was crazy with frequent rains and high wind storms. Initially I tie the top cover of the pergola with a rope but on a stormy day I noticed that the whole pergola was shaking like crazy that’s when I decided to dissemble the whole pergola for the season and glad I took that decision. We had weeks of rain and high windy days and I am sure the pergola might not be able to handle such high wind.I would like to mention that dissembling the pergola was very easy. I was able to do it within an hour with the help of a friend. I assembled it again a month back when the storm season was gone and I am glad to say this time the installation was quick. I was able to fasten all the nuts and screws as if it is new and pergola looks pretty good (pics attached). I am now confident that I can safely assemble and disable the whole unit safely as many times as I want.I am very happy with this pergola. I bought it based on the reviews, price and size of it at the time when I was making a purchase. When I was searching online I found similar items from different brands and all looks almost similar so it was not easy to decide but based on the price, instructions and reviews from fellow shoppers I choose this item. My item arrived fast and all parts and material were in great shape. I like the fact that the individual pieces are lightweight as compared to the wooden pergola and yet it fells sturdy. The video instructions on how to install this product was very helpful but I still spend around 6 hours with 2 people to install it. First, I installed it on grass but on a rainy day, it does not feel very secured. With the help of my three other friends, I was able to move this pergola on the concrete patio. I screwed the base and on top of it I put sandbag on each legs to make it more secure. The top of the Pergola is not able to stop the heavy rain and with high wind the top splits open. I learned the hard way that the top is not good for a rainy or windy days. Now I slide the top to an end and tie it with a bungee cord on the rainy days.On a sunny day, it serves its purpose and provide much-needed shade when sitting under it. It is able to blocks the direct sunlight and sitting under it feels more comfortable Overall, I am very happy with this purchase and planning to add a rolling shade at one end to provide more protection on hot sunny day.

Incredible Value | Ease of Assembly
The Happatio 10x13' Pergola offers incredible value. It has transformed my patio into a great entertaining space for hanging out and cooking outdoors. All parts were in good condition and the assembly was relatively straight forward. I did it alone and it took be roughly 5 hours. I would recommend doing it with two people. One great understated feature, is the overhang of over the awning when not pulled out. This stops leaves and other undesirables from getting onto the awning.A few considerations and reasons why 4/5 stars was given... The awning could use a little more height. This can be remedied by bolting the legs to blocks to make the entire unit taller. Secondly, the tracks on which the awning slides on are a little wonky. I bent some of the metal with pliers to ensure the awning operated smoothly.

Pretty while is lasted.. until it rained.
It looked pretty at first, but as soon as it rained the water collected in the folds and the whole canopy pulled out of the runners and collapsed. There’s no way to fix it. The plastic runner wheels tore off and poles are all bent. So much for $250. It only lasted a few weeks. The gray canopy also turned purple in the sun. Pretty quickly became ugly and buyers remorse. I’m very sad.

Awesome for the Price Point!
I don’t know where some of these people come up with all of the bad things about this pergola? It does have a lot of pieces, because a large pergola is shipped in a box as compact as they can make it. That means more pieces. And also, I’m sure some people that have trouble aren’t mechanically inclined to put something like that together. I will make one suggestion that will speed up your process tenfold. Take the Allen wrench that is sent with your pergola and cut the long side of the Allen wrench off. Put that in a cordless drill, and you can quickly and easily screw everything together. First of all familiarize yourself with the instructions, and yes, you can just look at pictures. Then put everything together that you can before hand such as the feet on the post, the ribs and perimeter frame, and the rollers on the fabric cover that go in the rods. Then have one person come and help you hold up the pieces while you are screwing them together to make the frame of the four posts and perimeter beams. At that point in time you can finish it by yourself. It came with all the parts, and all went together as expected. All of the holes lined up without a problem. Didn’t have to drill any new ones! Rather than the anchors they send, which are quite large, I would go to Home Depot or Lowe’s, and buy some tap con screws an inch or so long. Measure the post out and Plumb each one, drill a hole in the concrete and run the tap con screw in to anchor the Pergola down. This is just exactly what I needed to keep the sun off of me while on my patio. And I can slide it back when I want an open top. I would recommend this, especially when you consider building one from wood. That’s my take.

Excellent Customer Service
I purchased the 10x13 and the 10x10 brown pergolas from HAPPATIO. I am extremely pleased with these. They look great! Great shade. Myself and a friend put both of these up in about 2 hours. I left the 10x13 canopy open and the weight of the rain water bent the middle rail down. Also the outside rail was bent in a wind storm. I again left the canopy open. Now I make sure I close the canopy went not in use. I put weight bags on the posts. The customer service was excellent and provided me with appropriate parts to repair the damage. They look the same as when purchased. I highly recommend these pergolas.
