Wow
My daughter asked for a mandolin and I bought her this. When I received it, I checked it out. I was so excited to give it to her, really like good gum drops excited. On Christmas it made quite the splash. A whole room of people was very impressed with it's attractiveness and the completeness of the kit. Her grandmother looked it over, as she had played one in youth and thought it was nice. Then my daughter sheepishly said she had wanted a cooking mandolin! Derp derp. I'll tell you, I strongly wanted to keep it! So very pretty! I was shocked really at how nice the whole set was and the case was nice too.

Very Nice
I wanted to learn how to play the mandolin and didn’t want to break the bank. This instrument fit the bill. I am actually very surprised at the quality of it. It is very nicely made. The strings on mine were pretty high off the frets so I brought it to a luthier and had him adjust it. It is much better now and easier to play. For the price it’s hard to imagine getting a better one.

Beginner, so….
Since I’m just starting my mandolin journey I have nothing to compare with this mandolin. However, I think it sounds great and I’m having fun learning. My husband plays guitar and is impressed with the instrument.

No truss rod, wavy neck and high strings.
I'm looking for a different Mandolin. I'm new to mandos but I've played and setup guitars since the 70s. I have a Donner DST 499 strat that is just wonderful! But this mandolin is hard to play because of string height. Lowering the bridge helped a bit but of course changes the intonation. The neck just looks wavy, not a lot, but it also doesn't have a truss rod, so fixing the neck would take removing the fret board and sanding the neck flat and reattaching the fret board. This doesn't come close to the quality of the Donner strat guitar. I would think this would turn off a new mandolin player wanna be because it's so hart to play. And the tuners are pretty crappy. The mandolin is really nice to look at and the gig bag is really nice.
