Is this a 1st base mitt? Is a 12” one ideal for a 9yr old?

Not technically a 1B Mitt, but certainly usable at that age. 12" may be large for your 9yo, though. My child used this mitt at 10/11.

It is tapered a little towards the wrist. It needs to be though in order to fit a smaller hand. This is a great glove for a serious little ball player. My son is 7.5 and it will be perfect for him.
