The shoe built for bigger runners
I have been looking for a solid pair of running shoes for the last few years, I read a lot of positive reviews on different brands. The writer of most reviews I read would mention his or her weight, I would get a chuckle out loud of the guy that said he was a big or large runner and mentions his height 6' 3" and weight at 185 pounds. Thats not big thats average.I am a bigger guy 6' 2" and weigh in at 235 pounds. A long time ago I play football in college for a division 1 school, I was an inside linebacker and over my four years playing the game that I loved I had both knees surgically repaired the left knee an ACL, PCL repair and meniscus and the right knee ACL, MCL and meniscus. Finding a pair of running shoes to fit my needs was rather difficult. I spent a lot of money on the most popular companies out there. The Salomon XT Wing 3 are the best running shoe I have ever put on my feet. I liked these shoes so much that I bought 3 pair, "I think Salomon discontinued them" . I run about 4 to 5 miles every other day and I ride the bike or do the elliptical machine on the others days. I know I don't run as much as most runners and my times aren't the fastest. If you are looking for a shoe that has a lot of flex and is lite then keep looking the Salomon XT Wing is not that shoe. However if you are in the market for a running shoe built for bigger guy, helps with over pronating, has a lot of stability, room for you toes to splay and an over comfortable fit this is the shoe for you.

Highly Recommended for running on dirt trails/roads.
I used the Shoe Finder tool at Runners World's website, and they recommended these. I had a pair of K-Swiss Tubes that I liked a lot, but they kind of fell apart quick. And then I got some Puma's but they were just too narrow and hurt my feet. So I was looking for something new. I got these to go on afternoon runs in. I run around the on some old dirt roads that are in poor condition and full of bumps and potholes. But these work great. My feet haven't hurt at all in them. They fit great, the slide for the laces to tighten them up works well, and is easy and quick. They seem to wrap around my foot well, and offer a lot of support and cushioning. I also like how the tongue is attached all the way up the sides to the rest of the shoe, hard for any dirt to sneak in. I'm sold on them and will be getting another pair once I wear these ones out.

Great shoes but having difficulty finding the right width.
Bought these to replace an out-of-production Salomon XT Hornet. I have had several pairs of Solomons and while I like their shoes alot the sizing is just a little off for me: size 12's are too short but fit well in the midfoot, size 12.5's are the right length but too loose in the midfoot. My feet are sub D width so this is a common difficulty for me. Unfortunately the speedlace system does not allow much adjustment of the midfoot tension compared to regular laces. The speedlaces are otherwise excellent.

Best light hikers on the market.
As an avid hiker my main concern is the comfort of my feet on the trail. These shoes are perfect. Very little break-in needed. The lacing system is my favorite, especially when cold and wet and don't have to fumble to tie a shoe string. I match these up with wool socks and haven't had a blister in years. This is my 4th pair and they are only replaced when the tread wears off, usually around 600 miles.

Oh Salomon!
For those people that don't like running around with disco balls on their feet (per the current 'bright is right' trend), these are the shoes for you. They really are way smarter and slicker looking than your typical running shoe. That's the aesthetics, now on with nitty gritty...I note one reviewer stated that these were great 'tennis' shoes. What?!? Nope, these are not tennis shoes, they're trail running shoes. Consequently the sole is considerably harder than your typical road running shoe because you're expected to be running on soft ground. So if you're a heavy, high impact runner I wouldn't recommend these over a typical road running shoe if you're primarily going to be doing your thing on ye old black top. These shoes also provide support for people who pronate, but I don't think it's that excessive and would be ok for a neutral runner. If you supinate, I wouldn't recommend these. For me, I'll use these for the odd trail run I do, I have visions of going for a tough mudder, but these shoes are not water proof, so for that kind of pursuit, you'd need the goretex variety that Salomon manufacture. I'm not that keen to use them for road running as they are not as springy as I would have hoped, which is why I gave them 4 stars. I'm therefore getting some Nike Air Pegasus for that purpose. I'd say I'd be bigger than your average runner at 6'3" and 220lbs, so I like something comfortable on tar.The lacing system is pretty cool, though I am familiar with it having had Salomons before, but they can loosen over time, but not really any worse than a normal lacing system, and I don't how, but they don't break (based on previous shoes I've owned).Anyway, that's my 2c. I like them, and I haven't come across anything that looks better.

Best show on the market for pronaters
If you are a pronater, these are the best shoes on the market. My teenage son's ankles were nearly touching the floor when he walked. He looked like he had a deformity or something. Since he began began wearing these shoes, he holds his ankles strong and walks "normal". The ortho lite insoles are perfect for this problem. He has only worn these shoes for the last several years and has no more problems. They are worth every penny! And, they look good too. Any teenage boy would not mind wearing these shoes.
