Strategies Against...

I've been a Neubauten fan ever since a French girlfriend I had in college introduced me to them in 1984. I was hooked. Although I really love their earlier body of work, this is a good anthology of what they've been up to the last 10 years or so. Over 2 hours of Blixa screaming etc... Priceless.

A must have album!!! Especially for long time fans!!!

This latest in the Strategies Against Architecture series continues Einstürzende Neubauten's generous tradition of offering original and interesting variations in their compilations. SASIV has many songs that were only available through the supporter project so is a 'must have' for the average fan. In comparison to other SAS series these songs tend to be more fully developed and offer EN's trademark range of experimental aural impact.For the completely uninitiated you should know that most of these songs are sung in German and that early works by this band were uncompromisingly abrasive and chaotic but over time have become progressively more melodic, redolent with precision percussion without sacrificing dedication to experimentation. Start with the recent albums and work backwards until EN just seems too, too harsh for your sensibilities. Wait for six months and you will find that album which seemed so challenging will have become your new favorite. Precede accordingly... but be warned they become addictive as the rest of pop music becomes dull and predictable. Trade off is that you start listening to all of life as musical.'Supporters' of all three phases will likely have most of these works but some original and interesting live versions are also included to mollify the completists in the crowd. In this day of rampant file sharing, buying uncompressed CDs has become antiquated but with their huge dynamic range of custom built instrumental sound, Blixa Bargeld's vocal nuance and exquisite attention to detail you really NEED to hear Einstürzende Neubauten on a real stereo for full effect.Mp3 compression? Tiny speakers in earbuds? Bah-humbug!

I've been an EN fan since the Thirsty Animal 45 came out. I've long held them as truest expression of human misery. i admit the smoother style of their later records was a little hard for me to get used to. i came to embrace them due to the brilliance of 'alles wieder offen' and after seeing them during the perpetuum mobile tour. Now the later stuff spends much more time with me. SAA IV is easily the best of the series. their evolution amazes me. this is more of a stand alone record than the other three SAA records. much more material that wasn't available on their studio efforts. i was capitvated on first listen. I can't take it off. I've grown up with EN, and this record is the best possible starting place for people that are interested. the songs are melodic and powerful, trance inducing and tragically beautiful (cliche, i know). Especially in better grade equiptment. The soundstage the music explores is immense. They will make those new IEMs or AKGs sound amazing. As the nuances reveal themselves and the weighty shifts of gravity lean and wobble before deconstructing around your person. A favorite track on the record is ' Wo sind meine shoe' unlike anything they've done. there are a few tracks on here that i can't believe didn't make an album (wenn dann)about 8 or 9 pieces that the casual fan hasn't seen here and if you look at the current trends, it won't be around long. So go get it! you will not be disappointed. also visit the site [...] and see the videos on youtube to get a little longer listen to the tunes.( most are earlier works).Great way to fall in love with EN again or for the first time.

And noticed the Max Cavalera of the now famous Cavalera Conspiracy was wearing at-shirt by these guys and this band, I had heard of them before but never experienced any of thier music and now I'm looking to hear at least a few of the CD's because my interest is piqued. The name now sounds familiar to me. My background is of German origin even though I am not german but know a few german words.They remind me now of Nuerosis to a certain extent.

Not normally a huge fan of compilation albums but this is so much more. It’s more of a document of the band work in certain period of time, not a bad track to be found from start to end. Brilliant package, 2x great cds plus an excellent booklet.

A la fin de la tournée Silence is Sexy en 2001, Einsturzende Neubauten, groupe phare de la scène industrielle depuis leur début en 1980, se trouve sans contrat avec une maison de disque, ni de certitude quant à son avenir. Souhaitant malgré tout ajouter un chapitre à son oeuvre, et avec une industrie du disque en plein crise, le groupe décide de prendre un tournant et développer un modèle de diffusion basé sur internet. Ce modèle repose sur un système de souscription, la musique créée par le groupe est alors diffusée de manière exclusive via le site web, et seuls les souscripteurs y auront accès.Entre 2002 et 2007, ce sont ainsi 5 "albums" qui seront produits :Supporter Album No. 1 (2003)Airplane Miniatures (2003)Grundstück (2005)Alles was irgendwie nützt (2006)Jewels (2006–2007). Jewels sortira par la suite en CD (je vous le conseille d'ailleurs, il est excellent !)Durant cette période, 2 albums seront aussi produits et diffusés sur support physique :Perpetuum Mobile (2004)Alles Wieder Offen (2007)Strategies Against Architecture 4 est, sous la forme d'une compilation, le témoignage de cette époque. Elle regroupe 26 titres produits entre 2002 et 2010, pour un total de 2H10 de musique, et suivant le format éprouvé des Strategies Against Architecture, contient 1/3 de nouveaux titres, 1/3 de Live, et 1/3 de morceaux déjà publiés mais choisis dans des versions alternatives et rares si possible. Si la série des Strategies a toujours représenté un excellent témoignage de l'activité du groupe, celui ci est particulièrement brillant et passionnant. Un incontournable dans leur discographie. Le tout est présenté dans un packaging superbe !

Hier ist sie also, die mittlerweile vierte Werkschau der Einstürzenden Neubauten. Wer hätte das gedacht, als die erste Platte der Strategien gegen Architekturen erschien? Bei Ende Neu stand bekanntermaßen viel auf der Kippe, aber sie haben sich neu definiert und haben seitdem einige kleine Meisterwerke hervorgebracht. Auch wenn sie nicht mehr so archaisch und brachial daherkommen wie in ihrer Anfangszeit.Beleuchtet wird dieses Mal die Phase, als die Neubauten mit ihrer Supportergeschichte angefangen haben, die ziemlich zeitgleich mit dem Ausstieg Blixas bei den Bad Seeds fiel. Es gibt, wie schon Tradition in dieser Strategien-Reihe, viele unveröffentliche Stücke, oder wo auch vorhanden, Live oder andere besondere Versionen. Und was ich noch hervorheben möchte, ist wieder einmal, wie eigentlich üblich bei den Neubauten, das gelungene Artwork und das sehr informative Booklet.Mit dieser Werkschau jedenfalls haben die Neubauten einmal mehr bewiesen, dass an ihnen so schnell kein Vorbeikommen ist. Nicht in der deutschen Musikszene, und nicht bei Leuten, die auf Wortspielereien, intelligente Texte und innovative Musik stehen. Als Industrial kann man die Neubauten nicht mehr bezeichnen, sie haben vielmehr einen eigenen Musikstil erschaffen, einen eigenen Kosmos sozusagen.Der Mix aus bekanntem, der Allgemeinheit zugänglichem Material und vielen Supportersachen ist mehr als gelungen. So bekommt der Ottonormalfan auch einen Einblick in die Musik, die die Neubauten fernab offizieller Alben machen. Und die Neubauten sind fleißiger denn je. Und erschaffen Perlen. Dass auch 'Susej' es geschafft hat, finde ich sehr gut. Es ist für mich nicht nur das Highlight auf der 'Alles wieder offen', sondern auch dieser Werkschau. Einer der stärksten Songs, die die Neubauten je gemacht haben und in dieser Intensität, die nicht einmal augenscheinlich ist, mich an 'Armenia' erinnert. Ein Lied, welches dich nicht mehr loslässt, hat es dich einmal gepackt. Auch Blixas Sprachqualitäten tun ihr übriges dazu. Was er in manchen Texten ausdrückt, bekommen andere in Kurzgeschichten nicht hin. In diese Kategorie gehören ebenso 'Grundstück' wie auch 'Ein leichtes leises Säuseln'.'Good morning everybody' oder auch 'X' sind Sachen, die ich vorher nicht kannte, die aber sofort Eingang in meine Gehörgänge gefunden haben. Dass die Neubauten eines Tages richtige Songs schreiben werden, hätten wohl sie selber nicht einmal vermutet. Aber gleichweg, wie experimentell oder songwriterhaftig sie daher kommen, sie haben Musik neu definiert. Oder nur andere Klangräume gefunden. Sie sind mit Sicherheit nicht des Schöpfers Lieblingsband, wie Blixa, in seiner für ihn eigenen Art beim Berliner Konzert behauptet hat, aber sie sind eine Band, ohne die die letzen 30 Jahre in der Musikgeschichte langweiliger gewesen wären. Sachen wie die Musterhaus oder auch Grundstückgeschichte sind ein wenig speziell für den Massenmarkt. Aber worauf hätten sich den Band wie unter anderem Nine Inch Nails berufen sollen? Die Wirkung dieser Musik auf den Einzelnen mag unterschiedlich sein, aber die Neubauten sind, was sie sind. Einstürzende Neubauten. Sie zerstören und bauen neu wieder auf. Sie erschaffen Schönes, reißen es wieder ein, um dann wieder noch etwas Schöneres zu erschaffen.'' wir müssen alles rückwärtsgängig machen''Sollte es wirklich eines Tages so kommen, dass dieser Bitte Blixas entsprochen wird vom Angesprochenen, so wird dieser dann hoffentlich die Neubauten verschonen. Denn ich möchte mir immer wieder den Kopf zerbrechen über Zeilen wie 'Ich treibe Inzest mit den Sternen''.'' wir müssen nach hause gehen''Noch nicht. Die Einstürzenden Neubauten sollen uns wenigstens noch Teil 5 ihrer Strategien gegen Architekturen geben.
