Very Useful Training Aid
Good clear printing, well laid out, not encountered any problems with the translation into English. Item was purchased for Edinburgh Chess Club library to be used as an aid for coaching, which is the stated purpose of the book. Some may consider it "old-fashioned", others will view that as no bad thing (ie "classic" or "proven").

Good book but riddled with production mistakes.
I am finding I have to cross out and correct analysis lines every few pages, there seem to be several recurring types of mistake as follows,1. ambiguous moves, perhaps introduced when this was translated to use pictorial algebraic? Often it might say something like rook to e8 but not specify which rook and both could make the move.2. completely wrong square indicated in a move, often an impossible move. This happens sometimes if " c" is specified as the file when it should be " e" , or "b" when it should be "a" (page 40), or Rd3 when t should be Rd8. These all look similar, as if someone (or something?) has misread the original text and transcribed it incorrectly.3. sometimes just a mystery why! e.g analysis of diag 23 ends with "5.Kd5 etc." but the king is already on d5 in the diagram, the line should continue 5.kc4 kb2 6.qd2 ka1 7.kb34. diagram numbering. It labels diagrams and "example positions" with numbers in the same range which can be confusing as you see chess boards with the same identification numbers a few pages apart.5. Sometimes it just misses out moves in a line, e.g. a line 6 moves long page 127 just misses out "5.Nf5 g2" tough it is clear that this must be there...If you are a good chess player, then it is quite fun to work out what the errors are and guess at why they occur, but I think if you are just starting out this is not the book for you and I think it would be very frustrating. A real shame as it really has some good material and deserved much better typesetting and proof reading.I searched for "erata" on line for this book but did not find any corrections available.

very helpful indeed.
Nice book, good information and easy to follow. I like it, shop around though and find the BEST price. Has given me confidence to go to the end game. yes, a few mistakes next printing will fix them.

Required endgame study.
A book clearly designed for trachers to use with multiple students but is usefull in the extreme for the solo reader. A true classic recommended by many GM's.
